Hello All,

I'm implementing a LDraw file loader and was wondering about some
details concerning mpd. I could not found enough info about this
elsewhere, or I may overlooked it.

Hope someone can give me some pointers about these issues.

Greetings,

Hi Roland,

Try <http://www.ldraw.org/modules.php?op=modload&name=News&file=article&sid=47
here> for the file specifications. Hopefully that should answer some queries.

Tim

My apologies. I just looked there more closely and it doesn't seem to answer
anything. To answer what I'm fairly sure of (but far from certain):

I think that the correct lookup order is internal, ., [MODELS], [PARTS]

Yes MPD files must have the file suffix MPD. I'm pretty sure internal models are
encourage to have .LDR while included parts have .DAT

I'm not sure if there is any rule about nested MPDs but I don't think any
software supports them (could be wrong). Personally I wouldn't be averse to
forcing MPDs to be self-contained rather than mixing internal and external
subfiles but that's just my opinion.

Note these are my personal views and comments.

Tim
