What do you think?

I think it's very good!!! My two boys liked it too. "Daddy, why haven't you
made anything like that??" Sigh...

And can you see that the pilot turns his head slightly before the canopy
slams?  And is the smoke too cheesy?  I didn't get around to work too
much on that part.

I must confess, I cannot see the head move, but my youngest boy immediately
said: "His head is moving too!", so I'll believe it.

I think it would have been equally impressive without the spherical 'smoke'
balls! Perhaps you could use a bounded fog, wagging the bounds? In POVRay 3.0
I used a spherical 'halo' to produce explosions and smoke ('The Sinking of
Regina Maersk', stills only), in 3.1 I think one must use 'media', which I
haven't read up on yet...

Happy raytracing,

I've made a short animation. It features a space ship taking off. It's 160 frames, 128x96 pixels per frame and approx 5 seconds. (24 frames per second.) I've used the MPEG1 compression standard, which achieves a nice total size of 100KB. You can (...) (25 years ago, 2-Jul-99, to lugnet.cad)
