Wow, I took a look. How long did it take to render?

Took approx 16 hours on a 400MHz PII system.  But I did not only render
the 160 frames you see in the movie.  I did some crude temporal
antialiasing by rendering three runs offset by a small time.  The three
runs were averaged over and encoded to make up the animation you saw.
This approach generates some motion blur, which makes the movie run
smoother and compress better.

The large number of transparent objects and light sources make the
rendering so slow.

I'm preparing a page with information on how it was done, some still
images from the movie and more alternate movies in different resolutions
and compression ratios do download and so on.  I'll announce it when it
is done.  Some more tweaking of the source and rendering still has to be
done first, though.
