I think it would have been equally impressive without the spherical 'smoke'

Yes, I think so too.  If I can't manage to make any better smoke, I'll
just drop the whole thing.  Those smoke bubbles just look too cheesy.

I must confess, I cannot see the head move, but my youngest boy
immediately said: "His head is moving too!", so I'll believe it.

Your son is a very clever boy!  :-)  Anyway, I'll make the visir
transparent in the next version, which will probably make it easier to
see the movement of the head.  At least I think so.  And I'll make the
ship tilt slightly forward as it rotates, just as a helicopter (or am I
wrong here?  It may look cool, anyway).

Perhaps you could use a bounded fog, wagging the bounds?

I'm thinking that the "blob" object may be useable here, to make an
irregular "tounge" of smoke from each jet motor.  *ponder* I'm just not
too experienced with POV-Ray, but I'm learning...

In POVRay 3.0 I used a spherical 'halo' to produce explosions and
smoke ('The Sinking of Regina Maersk', stills only), in 3.1 I think
one must use 'media', which I haven't read up on yet...

Speaking of which, I could not find that rendering on your home page.
Did I miss it?

Fredrik
