Well, to be completely honest, the only Lego-related reason I'd want to meet
with other Legomaniacs is to steal ideas from them.  There.  I've admitted
it.  My burden feels somehow lighter now.  :-,

As for non-Lego-related reasons...  There are too many reasons for too many
people to list here.  I think it would be a real hoot to meet everyone I've
dealt with online, to get face-to-face and find out just how different we
all are IRL.  The rare in-person parties -- and Tradewars 2002 (1) -- are
the most awesome things that the BBS scene had to offer me.  For example, I
knew this one guy on a local BBS who happened to be a central member in a
rather good Celtic musical trio, and I had no clue until I met him.

in person.

Amen.  You may never see these things even if you see the person each day.
It's like Billy Joel's stranger -- we all have a face that we hide away
forever, and we take them out and show ourselves when everyone has gone.
(2)  The pseudo-anonymity the Internet provides lets a lot more people show
off their different faces.  IMO, this cannot be a bad thing.

1.  And Barren Realms Elite, and VGA Planets, etc. etc. etc.  Yes, I was --
and am still -- addicted.  :-,

2.  A direct quote; go listen to it.  I can't say enough good things about
this album.  Good stuff.
