Re: POV 3.5, Radiosity, and Multiple Passes??

(...) :-( It's been 7hrs 41 mins, and it's still halfway through rendering the second-to-last, rather blurry pass. I can't understand for the life of me why rendering such little detail takes so long, I would expect this from the actual final (...) (22 years ago, 28-Jan-03, to lugnet.cad.ray)

Re: POV 3.5, Radiosity, and Multiple Passes??

I believe you are currently out of luck. The way radiosity is currently set up in POV-Ray 3.5, multiple passes are required. That may or may not change in future versions, but I'm not going to hold my breath. I have a 450 MHz so I understand your (...) (22 years ago, 28-Jan-03, to lugnet.cad.ray)

POV 3.5, Radiosity, and Multiple Passes??

I'm rendering an image at 800x600 in POV-Ray 3.5 right now, on an old 400mhz (ouch!) computer. It's using radiosity settings Jeroen de Haan provided to me over email. I've done other renders with these settings successfully, that usually take about (...) (22 years ago, 27-Jan-03, to lugnet.cad.ray)

(...) Ah, yes, that is probably a simpler way! :-) (...) Hehe! My comment about Ldrville was actually meant as a joke. I think that "Datsville" is a better name, and it also honors the original author. Are you doing much work on Datsville now, BTW? (...) (22 years ago, 27-Jan-03, to lugnet.cad.dat.models)

Re: Method for splitting quads with not coplanar vertices?

Re: Method for splitting quads with not coplanar vertices?

(...) I wouldn't bother too much. I think it is an error if the four points of a quad do not lie in a plane. Too bad that the LDraw format has a built-in possiblity of creating degenerate quads. POV e.g. uses 2D points to describe a polygon. (...) I (...) (22 years ago, 27-Jan-03, to lugnet.cad)

Method for splitting quads with not coplanar vertices? (Cross-post for /dat and /dev)

hi folks, I had a little chat with carsten about the possibility to fix not coplanar vertices automatically in LDDP. we all know that running a line like this: 0 4 16 10 -1 10 10 0 -10 -10 0 -10 -10 0 10 through L3P with –dist 0.1 or –det 0.001 will (...)   Re: Ribbed hose with LSynth

Hi Jaco, I don;t think that LSynth can make a hose that short due to some subtleties in the splining algorithm. For straight line hoses, you have direct control over length, by the placement of the contrainst as you have done. Sorry. Kevin (...) (22 years ago, 26-Jan-03, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.cad.dat.parts)
