  Can't fint 10024.dat and 9vstrate.dat anywhere!!!

Hi I'm entirely new to MLCad/LDraw. I'm looking for 2 unofficial parts files, but I just can't seem to find these. The files are: 10024.dat - this part is the 6 stud wide window found in the Santa FE locomotive set. 9vstrate.dat - this part is an (...) (22 years ago, 11-Aug-02, to lugnet.cad)

Re: MOTM and SOTM winners for July 2002

(...) Yep. But what is going to happen this month is fine, I guess... I wouldn't change the rules out from under this month's entry. They win. :-) Going forward... This may be too complex but perhaps you could roll over those previous month entries (...) (22 years ago, 11-Aug-02, to lugnet.cad.dev.org.ldraw)

Re: MOTM and SOTM winners for July 2002

(...) Hi Larry, There is only one. At least that was all I had - there may have been more, but my email crapped out. So yes, that one will be a default winner. I've not given a lot of thought about what to do when there is only one entry. Or no (...) (22 years ago, 10-Aug-02, to lugnet.cad.dev.org.ldraw)

  Math problem

Hi, I've been having headaches for over two nights now trying to figure something out for my animation program. I have made it possible to change the rotation point of an model. This works fine but I want it to be possible to change the point during (...) (22 years ago, 10-Aug-02, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  Re: Chrome Parts

(...) Is there really a reason they should be dithered? The only reason they were dithered originally is because LDraw ran in 16 color mode, and that was the only way to support more colors, right? If so, then I would argue that if you can generate (...) (22 years ago, 10-Aug-02, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: Chrome Parts

(...) True, it would definitely break my script. If I switched to ldglite, I might rework things to use the output file parameter, and just run one part per call. (...) Really? That's weird--it's recognized by LDraw (not sure about LEdit). Steve (22 years ago, 9-Aug-02, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: * LDrawDesignPad LDDP 1.1 released *

I'm working on a plugin that does Hoses. It my take me a little bit though as I'm still hashing out my DATLine Class hierarchy and I have to reeforce my knowledge of coding Forms. I've become the poster child for learning Delphi based on 7 year old (...) (22 years ago, 9-Aug-02, to lugnet.cad)

New LDRAW renderer for the Mac

Yes its true, however don't too excited yet. For several months now I have been working on a new LDRAW renderer. I did this to over come some of the shortfalls in the renderer in LdGLite (Mac) that I converted earlier this year. In principle I was (...) (22 years ago, 9-Aug-02, to lugnet.cad.dev.mac)

Re: When Did Tiles Get Their Groove?

(...) I have heard reliable reports of recently opened MISB sets from 1973 and 1976 without and with grooves, respectively. I think that narrows down the time frame for the addition of the groove (to nongrille tiles). It would be good to narrow it (...) (22 years ago, 9-Aug-02, to lugnet.cad.dev, lugnet.db.brictionary)

  Re: Chrome Parts

(...) Ouch, I just tried this in ldglite with the following command ldglite foo.ldr -s3 -w3 -MS -q and found not one, but 4 different bugs I have to fix. 1. I need to increase the calculated image extents by the half the linewidth to get all of the (...) (22 years ago, 9-Aug-02, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: Chrome Parts

(...) You guessed it, or did you sneak a look at the code. ;) (...) That's interesting. I used a value of 15 for for the gold, and 50 for the silver. Apparently 15 produces a wide enough angle for my default view and light positions. I don't like (...) (22 years ago, 9-Aug-02, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: Chrome Parts

(...) At a guess by looking at the two images, the gold specular is set up to be shiny for a wider angle, which causes the studs to be shiny in the sample gold image. You'll note that the rest of the brick isn't really shiny at all from this (...) (22 years ago, 9-Aug-02, to lugnet.cad)

Re: New version of MLCad command spec

(...) Put a version number and a publication date at the top of the spec along with a recommendation to visit your website for the most up to date version of the specification. You may even want to provide an email address and suggest people email (...) (22 years ago, 9-Aug-02, to lugnet.cad.mlcad)

Re: New version of MLCad command spec

Agreed ... the only thing I would like to make sure is that there are no out-dated versions hanging arround somewhere in the net. And I believe thats only possible if the spec can be downloaded from one single location. Do you think different about (...) (22 years ago, 9-Aug-02, to lugnet.cad.mlcad)

  Re: Chrome Parts

(...) Try this. I switched the silver to use the same specular values as the gold. Makes it look shinier from that angle. (URL) (22 years ago, 9-Aug-02, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: Chrome Parts

(...) Well I could work with the colors and specular values a bit. I think I used the same colors values as ldview, but picked my own specular values based on empirical testing. I think I used different specular values for silver, so it may look (...) (22 years ago, 9-Aug-02, to lugnet.cad)

Re: New version of MLCad command spec

(...) Note for onlookers: the key thing I get from Don's suggestion is that it reverses the "you may not distribute this spec" from Michael's document to "you can, and should, distribute this spec". Which, IMO, is a better approach. This information (...) (22 years ago, 9-Aug-02, to lugnet.cad.mlcad)

  Re: Chrome Parts

(...) Yes and it works the same way on ldglite. There's also a tutorial on how to do this with the tools on ldraw.org if you want cut out the Windows box. (URL)Let's see, right now, we've got defined codes (in the dithering range) (...) I'll have to (...) (22 years ago, 9-Aug-02, to lugnet.cad)

Re: Detemining Polygon Winding (Was: New Plugin for LDDesignPad)

(...) Correcting the winding shouldn't be too bad -- if the L3 code is available (ie, look in the ldglite source code) -- check how Lars detects bad winding, and how he figured the (more) correct winding. Steve (22 years ago, 9-Aug-02, to lugnet.cad.dev)
