It would be quite interesting to make a mecha that used tendons everywhere
instead of gears... youd still need a mechanism to tighten and loosen them
however, maybe with pneumatic pistons buried deep inside the beast, tugging on
strings through pulleys.

| (...) I made a foot with toes that have give to allow it to stand on the balls of its feet. Though it's all gussied up with Bionicle stuff the concept still works. The tubes provide a kind of spring/tendon type support. (URL) (19 years ago, 30-Nov-05, to lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)
