The angled feet work well. I’d like to see you make a foot that bends in the middle, in addition to being angled, for that “standing on the balls of your feet, about to run” look.

Hmmm, that’s a tough one. Something to shoot for. Wait,... do you mean different from bending at the heal and toe?

Well, essentially I’d like to see a foot that allows for more extreme poses while remaining stable. The monolithic flat footed style can only go so far. The alternative is a foot that has articulation to mimic what toes do, not the useless “this little piggy” part of the toes, but the part that’s more embedded in the foot - the part you really stand on, when you stand on your toes. This is the next frontier for large mecha feet.

I was thinking of making a foot that could split near the middle providing a small forward contact pad while the rear lifted off the ground. This would support extreme leg angles better than just bending at the ankle, and look cool.

I made a foot with toes that have give to allow it to stand on the balls of its feet. Though it’s all gussied up with Bionicle stuff the concept still works. The tubes provide a kind of spring/tendon type support. http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=586781

(...) -snip- (...) I remember. That set up is too cool. Did Bryce mention that the toes can apply pressure to the ground? Plus the tubes really add to the tension and channel the weight. Ubber cool and crazy looking. e (19 years ago, 30-Nov-05, to lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)

(...) I remember this exquisite monstrosity. It looks like he would have a definite "spring in his step". I don't know if this kind of tech could hold a toe pose for long though. It would be quite interesting to make a mecha that used tendons (...) (19 years ago, 1-Dec-05, to lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)
