  2nd Annual Space Building Contest

Two words BLACKTRON I That is right, we are going to have a Blacktron I building contest starting December 1st.   Re: 2nd Annual Space Building Contest

(...) Eek! I want to make sure that I can reasonably claim to be eligible... can we make it clear that the Scrutinizer[1] is the final arbiter? And you mentioned that the contest starts on Dec. 1st. Let's say that the people in the above list who (...) (23 years ago, 15-Nov-01, to lugnet.build.contests)

Re: 2nd Annual Space Building Contest

Sadly enough, I don't own any Blacktron 1 minifigs. Will that bar me from entering this contest? Will I have to sell my soul to Ebay to get some minifigs? Or can I just use some "other" black minifigs? (...) (23 years ago, 15-Nov-01, to lugnet.build.contests)

what defines a MOC as blacktron? was: (2nd Annual Space Building Contest)

This is an important question and needs to be answered by the organizers of the contest. (23 years ago, 15-Nov-01, to lugnet.build.contests)

The good news is that, as far as I know (with the recent creation of the large BT1 black & yellow triangle pannel piece) all of the elements used in the official TLC blacktron I sets have been rendered in ldraw, although the .dat file I have (...) This is cool watching this all happen, good luck to all you guys. Eric www.mylegomaster.com Oh, BTW, when I first read about all of this I wondered about this: (URL) was like; Man! I had those parts on the BR all these years! Blacktron! Awwww yeah. (23 years ago, 15-Nov-01, to lugnet.build.contests)

Re: 2nd Annual Space Building Contest

(...) I do not see why not. I would hate to see someone not participate just because of that. The more important thing is the MOC not the minifig. If anyone has a differing opinion please let me know. Jude (...) (23 years ago, 15-Nov-01, to lugnet.build.contests)

Re: what defines a MOC as blacktron? was: (2nd Annual Space Building Contest)

(...) Unless "Blacktron I-ness" is part of the contest's judging criteria. I'd bet that it is, much like the "Classic Space" contest judged "Classic Space"ness. best LFB (23 years ago, 15-Nov-01, to lugnet.build.contests)

Re: what defines a MOC as blacktron? was: (2nd Annual Space Building Contest)

(...) Since the competitors are the judges, I would say it is up to them. This contest is a BT1 contest so I hope most entries try to stay true to BT1 design. Although this is harder to judge with only 6 official models to use as a guide. In the end (...) (23 years ago, 15-Nov-01, to lugnet.build.contests)

Re: what defines a MOC as blacktron? was: (2nd Annual Space Building Contest)

Some suggestions for "Blacktron-ness": - Color, you got to have Black and Yellow with a little trans-red! :-) - Style! Blacktron I is all about style! - Remember the story positioning; the Blacktron are spies, pirates and theives that are out to (...) (23 years ago, 15-Nov-01, to lugnet.build.contests)

Re: what defines a MOC as blacktron? was: (2nd Annual Space Building Contest)

(...) Well, in my opinion... which is what I'll be going by with my votes, I'd define Blacktron-ism by: - The color scheme is black with yellow glass. Detailing is done with yellow and with trans-red. - The figs are all black with the signature (...) (23 years ago, 15-Nov-01, to lugnet.build.contests)

Re: what defines a MOC as blacktron? was: (2nd Annual Space Building Contest)

(...) Actually, a story like that (pretty close) was in the US and Canada LEGO catalog around 1988. Additionally if someone in the Atlanta area needs to use a BT1 minifig, I can loan you one for picture taking purposes. -Jason (23 years ago, 16-Nov-01, to lugnet.build.contests)

(...) *sigh* My bad <-- See I can fess up! I looked it up, it was a BT2 thing in the 1991 US/CA catalog. So not a BT1 story, per se. -Jason (23 years ago, 19-Nov-01, to lugnet.build.contests)

Re: what defines a MOC as blacktron? was: (2nd Annual Space Building Contest)

I can't speak for others, but it wouldn't really bother me much if there weren't any obvious (ie, with the triangular blacktron insignia) pieces in the model.
