This part is speculative.

Actually, a story like that (pretty close) was in the US and Canada LEGO
catalog around 1988.

Additionally if someone in the Atlanta area needs to use a BT1 minifig, I
can loan you one for picture taking purposes.

(...) Duuuuude! Don't be like that, give us a reference! I have several of each of the BT1 sets, and lot's of promotional materials from the same BT1 sets MISB (all opened now), and I have NEVER seen this suggested storyline. I am all ears, baby! (...)
