Yes, the color scheme is a major key, IMOHO. Mostly black with yellow
highlights, trans-yellow windows, some small trans red highlights are okay.
They definitly must have some style. When the sets first came out,
everyone said, "Now that is cool!" Most BT1 designs look sleek, even the
black visors add to the anti-hero type of coolness here.
I don't recall any such "story" per se. Most would agree, this was the
first true "bad-guy" sub-theme, but unlike most others it was left to the
imagination who they really were and why. I think it should be acceptable
that some MOCs not be such "evil doers", so long as there is a dark edge to
the concept -maybe they are the Space version of leather-clad motorcycle
gangs, rough and tumble image but actually a fun bunch of people if you get
to know them... I dunno, just rambling...
All this is again just my opinion.
