Re: Now subscribe with Reply-To group or poster

(...) Yes. However the flip side is that if they show up in the list, LOTS of people will see it and pummel the person to change their settings instead of just the person who posted the first post after the offender set their email to vacation mode.   Re: Now subscribe with Reply-To group or poster

(...) I just hope we would not see a lot of those Outlook out-of-office auto-reply to every single post in the group. (23 years ago, 22-Apr-01, to lugnet.admin.nntp)

Now subscribe with Reply-To group or poster

Dear LUGNET News-by-Mail subscribers, I'm pleased to announce a new mail subscription feature... When you subscribe to a group by mail, you can now select whether you want to receive messages with replies directed to (a) just the poster/sender, or (...)   Re: Posting via mail

(...) Yes, that would be fine, since we were discussing a more general "database" for Lego purposes and not the LUGNET database itself (for which there is lugnet.admin.database). I just hope that the discussion doesn't fizzle after only a couple of (...) (23 years ago, 20-Apr-01, to lugnet.admin.nntp)

  Re: Posting via mail

(...) That would probably be more intuitive than lugnet.admin.database (or is that supposed to serve a different purpose). (23 years ago, 20-Apr-01, to lugnet.admin.nntp)

  Re: Posting via mail

(...) Oh -- d'Oh -- well, OK, we could make lugnet.db into a group. Would you find that useful for discussing database things? (23 years ago, 19-Apr-01, to lugnet.admin.nntp)

  Re: Posting via mail

(...) Todd may have meant lugnet.admin.database. (23 years ago, 19-Apr-01, to lugnet.admin.nntp)

  Re: Posting via mail

(...) The "database" group? Excuse my ignorance, but which group would that be? If I read my groupinfo correctly, the is no "parent" group to lugnet.db.* (no group lugnet.db): ht@katzenminze%pts/4 (20:43) ~ > telnet news.lugnet.com nntp Trying (...) (23 years ago, 19-Apr-01, to lugnet.admin.nntp)

Re: a thought about brickbay update postings

(...) How true that is! You are so correct. In fact... I'm not using a newsreader at all. I use the web interface exclusively. (...) Check here: (URL) on reading it, does seem to imply that it doesn't work "everywhere" only on the top level group. I (...) (23 years ago, 19-Apr-01, to lugnet.admin.nntp)

Re: a thought about brickbay update postings

(...) The web interface does have group skip filters. The groups are not coalesced for NNTP. (23 years ago, 19-Apr-01, to lugnet.admin.nntp)

Re: a thought about brickbay update postings

(...) Not everyone uses the same newsreader that you do. The filtering capabilities of various programs varies a lot, and the web interface has no such filters, AFAIK. Amy (23 years ago, 19-Apr-01, to lugnet.admin.nntp)

Re: a thought about brickbay update postings

(...) Since there *is no* top level market group (in the "newsgroup sense") but it is just a virtual group that is an agglomeration of the lower level groups in the market hierarchy... all you need to do is set your skip filter settings to skip (...)   Posting via mail

(...) It is possible to post via the mailing list version -- there's a two-way SMTP<=>NNTP gateway. However, this only works if you are subscribed for instant delivery (i.e., not digests). (...) Replies to digest messages are disabled by design (...) (23 years ago, 19-Apr-01, to lugnet.db.inv, lugnet.admin.nntp)

  Reply-To setting in mailing lists

(...) Chris, The quick answer is that the list software you're using is called "ezmlm" (URL). A more complete answer, however, is that you're actually on a pure- mailing-list half of a bidirectional mailing-list-to-newsgroup gateway. That is, some (...)   REQ: Restructuring loc.de.* newsgroups

Hello Todd! I am requesting a restructuring of the loc.de.* newsgroups. The loc.de.* newsgroups are almost not used because if the strange division into separate counties.   Problem with flags in Pine

Over the past few days, in at least two groups (.db.inv and .market.theory), I've noticed that when I leave messages undeleted, but read (that is, not flagged "new" by Pine) and then come back to the group later, they are flagged as "new". This (...) (23 years ago, 30-Mar-01, to lugnet.admin.nntp)

  Re: Help with newsreader IE5.5

Bryan's right; it was a user error on my part. I had right-clicked on each news group and selected 'Catch Up', which acted as if I had once downloaded and later deleted all postings. By right-clicking on the newsgroup, selecting 'Properties' and (...) (24 years ago, 29-Mar-01, to lugnet.admin.nntp)
