Bryan's right; it was a user error on my part. I had right-clicked on each news group and selected 'Catch Up', which acted as if I
had once downloaded and later deleted all postings. By right-clicking on the newsgroup, selecting 'Properties' and then under the
'Local Files' tab choosing 'Reset', I was able to undo 'Catch Up'. Now clicking on 'Headers' in the toolbar gets 1000 more headers
at a time, just as Bryan said.
