Oops, I just found another missing message:
lugnet.announce:37
So that may be a worthwhile idea, as there are almost certainly more.
By the way, the subject of that message was "Disclosure of your real
name"--I was just trying to figure out whether some of the headers had
gotten munged on some of these early messages. Specifically, it seems
like certain posts now have the X-Real-Life-Name header from dates
before they "should" have it; i.e., before they registered their names
or before the feature was rolled out.
But then again, some do not. Maybe it's nothing, or maybe it's my
newsreader. (Or maybe these tags were retroactively inserted by the
server when the groups were renamed, and I'm just mis-remembering them
not being there.)
Anyway, just thought I'd mention it, in case it means anything.

| (...) Thanks for the quick restoral, Jerry! I wonder if it's possible to do a 'diff' on the tree of articles (old/new, where "old" points at the backup) to see if any others accidentally went missing (ignoring files that match the name "1" or "2")?
