  Re: New newsgroup lugnet.admin.finance

(...) The membership packets were discussed recently in this thread: (URL) now that there is a finance group, a way to fund the membership packets will be figured out. Bryan (23 years ago, 4-Apr-02, to lugnet.admin.finance)

(...) I'd vote for .swap. I have no problem with all systems which solicit several cash offers and pick the best offer as auctions. That could even be done without changing the newsgroup names.   change password & lost password

Almost every website that uses passwords has an ability to change the password, and a "Forgot my password" link on the login screen. LUGNET doesn't (that I can find, anyway). I think this is a serious shortcoming, since the only way to get a (...) (22 years ago, 12-Apr-02, to lugnet.admin.suggestions)

Re: change password & lost password

(...) How is sending a URL better than sending a password? I assume that once you get a new password in the mail, the first thing you do is change it anyway, right? So what's the difference? Dan PS. I agree that sending passwords in plaintext is (...) (22 years ago, 12-Apr-02, to lugnet.admin.suggestions)

enhance one of the helps pages to give the correct news/mail address form

This page: (URL) a logical one to give the correct address form for post-by-mail, or to link to a FAQ entry that does. (the correct form is: lugnet.off-topic.tes...lugnet.com and not: lugnet.off-topic.tes...ugnet.com) A FAQ entry that gives it (...) (23 years ago, 9-Apr-02, to lugnet.admin.suggestions)

(...) Note that when I wrote that, I didn't know you *could* change the password on LUGNET. I had previously searched for a "change password" link without success. But the URL is only good for a limited time; if you want to have it send a password (...) (22 years ago, 13-Apr-02, to lugnet.admin.suggestions)

  News-by-mail "OFF" feature

Since people are going back collecting previous suggestions to put in this new group, I'll do the same for a few that I've suggested before.
