Re: Disappearing name in MS Outlook Express

(...) I've never had a problem getting OE to do what I wanted it to do. I don't use it regularly for news, although I do use it exclusively to handle my customer support e-mail. It may not be ready for prime-time in the sense that it is possible for (...) (26 years ago, 27-Jan-99, to lugnet.admin.general)

  Temp pic space on LUGNET

Wouldn't it be nice to have a temp storage bin for pics on LUGNET. I often have pics of work in progress that I would like to get commnets on but don't want to mail attachments (and that aren't really worth having on my sight). Somehow email them to (...)   Re: Email postings

(...) If you want the flexibility of downloading the posts to read, then reply offline, why not just use a news reader? Any number of them would let you do exactly what you want to do via your e-mail reader. (25 years ago, 1-Sep-99, to lugnet.admin.general)

What happened to the logo on the Main Lugnet page?

Todd, The Logo on the main page looks like the traffic Icon today? Is this intentional? Just thought I would mention it. Eric Remove ".nospam" when replying by E-mail. The New England LEGO Users Group (URL) (25 years ago, 11-Sep-99, to lugnet.admin.general)

Re: News/Discussion Group Traffic (Thu 28 Oct 1999)

(...) Yes. (What does the last sentence of the first paragraph on the report say? :) (...) Yeah, a lot of crossposting this week. Maybe the report should be dual-column like the news-by-mail subscriptions -- one showing counts including crossposts (...) (25 years ago, 28-Oct-99, to lugnet.admin.general)

Re: Multiple votes for CLSotW possible?

(...) Oh, didn't realize there was a question. (I thought you were only making a statement about comments.) No, never got comments as part of the votes, because the mechanism for sending the form by e-mail was to use <FORM METHOD=POST (...) (25 years ago, 22-Feb-00, to lugnet.admin.general)

  Re: lugnet.dev.null or somesuch

(...) Ok, that worked. That would keep people from replying using the web interface (from Netscape, it brings up a compose window, and then I need to manually show the newsgroups field and clear the e-mail). (24 years ago, 25-Jul-00, to lugnet.admin.general)

Re: Allow posting & FUT to member email

(...) Looks like it works just fine (I overrode the followup-to rule in order to post this message). If you try to reply to the above message in NNTP it sends e-mail. Does it do the same for web and SMTP users? If so, we've got our answer - put it (...) (23 years ago, 9-Apr-02, to lugnet.admin.suggestions)

  Re: Curatorship for lugnet.org.it.itlug

(...) I don't subscibe either, and in fact, doesn't the subscription changes not work correctly right now? I don't know, I haven't tried, but I do know that Lugnet is currently using my obsolete e-mail address. Frank (21 years ago, 8-Jan-04, to lugnet.admin.curators)

Re: Oops! Stopping a cross-posting thread

(...) If you catch the "mistake" earlier enough, you can go back and cancel the article after you see it appear, then re-post the corrected version. In this case, since someone has already replied, you wouldn't want to go back and cancel it or else (...) (26 years ago, 26-Jan-99, to lugnet.admin.general)

Maybe the thing to do as a backup-plan to the Terms of Use (without changing the Terms of Use) is to build a database of real-names associated with each new e-mail address seen, and for the server to embed (...)   Group monitoring

My apologies if I'm missing something, or if this has already been addressed, but I was wondering if there is anyway to get notification of activity in a newsgroup here? It was suggested in the past that a mechanism to allow the ignorance of users be implemented: (URL) would apply to the web interface, (and mail too, perhaps) as you have a way to do it from news. (23 years ago, 5-Apr-02, to lugnet.admin.suggestions)

I moved to a new computer at work, and re-ran the posting setup. Now when I post it won't accept FTX, but when I post in plain text, it's ok.
