Ok, after more investigation the problem is twofold: 1) The compiler doesn't look at an absolute address (such as generated by #define P6DR (*(volatile unsigned char *)0xFFBB) and then used by P6DR=0). Instead, it looks for an attribute (...) (26 years ago, 5-Jan-99, to lugnet.robotics)

Yeah, checked on Lego Mindstorms Internal Page. According to the info quoted below, the single byte message is wrapped in a simple protocol "wrapper". I'm glad to see the 4519 crossover at last, shows some commitment to trains by LEGO. Also I quite like the 4541 Road N' Rail Cherry Picker Truck, I'll definitely get one of those.
