  Re: HELP!

when using DLM, does the downloader make it to the second stage of the download, indicating "synchronized"? also, when attempting to download "config0c.s19," do you give DLM the command line flag indicating to burn EEPROM and not RAM? you must tell (...)   Re: running .s19

does your program to anything else other than attempt to leave special mode? You could have it write a value to the motor address ($7000); that would be a more visible indication that it is running. BTW, why is your first instinct to take it out of (...) (28 years ago, 19-Feb-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: More Motor Speeds

it's harder than you might expect, b/c the PWM routine is 'hard-wired" into the pcode file. basically, you have to make the changes in pcode.asm, and reassemble the pcode_hb.s19 file. -fred In your message you said: (...) (28 years ago, 23-Feb-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: Expansion interface status

Another thought, how about a series of expander boards. I know this could get really ugly, but, maybe Fred, and the normal HB distributors build what they see are appropriate for their customers, and others build what is appropriate for their (...) yes, they do. In case you didn't know, schematic diagrams for the Handy Board are available from the web site. They show this wiring, including the fact that the user knob is wired to PE7. -Fred -- This message was composed using Articulate Systems' (...)   PC serial connection

Hi. I just got my hands on a new HB and I'm using a 100 MHZ DX PC. Hardware-wise, there's a perfect slot for the serial connection on my computer, which is not occupied. I hookes the serial connection to it and tried to download IC using COM port 4 (...) (28 years ago, 22-May-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: Servos and Handyboard.

you can't power 2 servos from the hb's own +5v supply. get a separate 5v supply (linear regulated, *noT* a switching supply, OR batteries) and run your servo power from that. connect this external supply ground to the HB motor ground (on J13). -Fred (...)   Re: Reducing Battery Pack Voltage

as has been discussed on this list, the Handy Board wasn't really designed for three volt toy motors. Reducing the voltage and doubling the motor chips is a reasonable approach, however. The Handy Board requires 7.2 volts to operate, because of the (...) (28 years ago, 1-Mar-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: Re[2]: phone cord length

(...) No, that is wrong; the RS232 is converted to TTL at the serial interface board, so you do have TTL on the phone cord. In any event, I would guess that 50 ft. would not be a problem; we're talking about 9600 baud here which is pretty slow. BTW, (...) (28 years ago, 4-Mar-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

thx for correcting my wording. e.g., instead of saying "half twist" i should say "straight through". anyhow, we agree on the definition of what is a phone cable and what is not a phone cable, we just have a different way of illustrating it. the (...)   Re: non-linear motor speed problem

The test isn't fair under no-load conditions, because then the motor just spins when you give it any signal. Are you sure the performance is the same when you have a full operating load? (...) Thanks Fred. Turned out I had a damaged MAX232 chip on the charger board that was powering up the handyboard via the TXD or RXD line.
