  Re: "Star Wars is silly"

(...) I was referring to strangers in the theater. Pleasanton, CA if it matters. The person I went with liked the movie a lot more than I did -- she chose the film on a regular screen over my preference for seeing Spider-Man on an IMAX screen. O (...)   Re: Dead reckoning (was Re: Rover Programming)

(...) Well, I did the code changes to do acceleration and deceleration yesterday and it's amazingly successful. I'm not yet quite as good as the Seattle robot, but I suspect that's at least partly because mine has a narrower track. I now believe (...) (22 years ago, 28-Jun-02, to lugnet.robotics)

I am writing up some coaches training materials for First LEGO League (FLL) in Minneapolis MN and I need some help with examples of various robot designs. I plan on covering: Platforms: Differential Drive (2 drive wheels, 1 or more casters) (...) (22 years ago, 4-Jun-02, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Elements of a brick oriented RPG

(...) I guess it's the wargamer in me which enjoys running tactical combats. I'll also admit to a bit of laziness (it's easier to throw a bunch of foes at the PCs than to come up with an interesting mystery). (...) I prefer not to fudge things, but (...) Well I finally posted something that interested others! Woohoo I'm excited. I've read it all to date and maybe the name should be changed to ESB/Ep II Parallels!   Re: Elements of a brick oriented RPG

(...) It's not that simple... the GM _has_ to fudge things to keep PCs alive. If the party is in the warp core engine room and someone chucks in a big ol' grenade, there's two choices-- someone throws himself on it and becomes goo, or nobody does so (...) Dean Thanks for the description of your course. I sure hope your students are up to it - there's a lot there for anyone to learn. Presumably they'll all be mechanically competent, just unused to Lego. I can think of several friends who, after your (...) (22 years ago, 5-Jun-02, to lugnet.robotics)

I don't know much about forth, but I'll try to help. I'm not sure that any firmware (normal) could keep the RCX from turning on. Try taking the batteries out, wait a few minutes, then put the same ones back in. If it turns on, it was the firmware. (...) (22 years ago, 6-Jun-02, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.pbforth)
