  RIS 1.5 and w2k -was- Re: RIS2 and w2k

I've just bought RIS 1.5 (2.0 ain't out in Australia yet, boo boo!) and am running Win2k. Everything seemed sweet, until I went to download the firmware to the RCX. The errors I get vary from the Tower not working, the RCX not working or the (...) (23 years ago, 30-Aug-01, to lugnet.robotics)

New patch for remote and message

I made a new patch for remote control and standard firmware message communication, I defined three config constants in config.h: 1.   RE: Cybermaster alternative software

Cybermaster's firmware's on *ROM* so you're limited to tools that use the standard firmware. That excludes the likes of legOS, pbForth, etc. You can use NQC in Cybermaster "mode" or any other language/tool generating standard firmware byte-codes. (...) (...) Powering the RCX with the solar cell is a little impractical. Keeping the firmware in the memory is a real challenge. I have found it useful using two panels and the capacitors for making some motor driven projects. The panels are designed for (...) (23 years ago, 5-Sep-01, to lugnet.robotics)

Does anyone have a version of the new firmware (version 2.x) for me? Or does anyone know where to find it? And where do I find the new Spirit.ocx and manual? Thanks very much! Da Byte (23 years ago, 8-Oct-01, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)

For those that care enough to have read this far :0) Originally when I set it all up, the IR tower was working 50% of the time. Enough time so that half of the firmware could download, then it stopped working. After that I couldn't get it working (...) (23 years ago, 2-Sep-01, to lugnet.loc.au, lugnet.robotics)

My seggiestion about remote control patach

I think remote control can be divided two parts: 1. defatk mode, if you user doesn't provide remote handler, the default hanlder will be called, key M1-M3 send standard message 1-3, A1-C1/A2-C2 increase/decrease 1 outport port a-c, P1-P5 run program (...) (...) Good question. We DO have plenty o' RCX at our disposal. If you have specific firmware requirements, hook us up with them, and we will do our best to get one configured the way you want it. (23 years ago, 7-Sep-01, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Anyone know how to build a stall sensor?

(...) Yes. I found on article on using the battery voltage to determine the same thing, i.e. more current, less volts. To do it you need replacement firmware. I use leJOS (a Java VM), I'm one if the developers, so I could go in that way. I'm going (...) (23 years ago, 6-Sep-01, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)

I know (as you are probably aware also) that the current can be monitored using the cybermaster. I saw how (...) (23 years ago, 6-Sep-01, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)

I haven't done a lot of testing with SendSerial(), so I can't say for certain what combinations are possible, etc. If you use SetSerialPacket(SERI...CKET_RCX), any bytes you send get built as a packet (with the 55 ff 00 header, data followed by (...)   Re: Solar panels, capacitor

I have not run a RCX with the Solar Cells. I would think you would require three cells and three capacitors connected in series to provide 7.5 volts to the RCX. This would require making an adapter from the wire brick to the power input of the RCX. (...) (23 years ago, 13-Sep-01, to lugnet.robotics)
