Re: RIS 2.0 or 1.5 (minimum requirements)

The 2.0 firmware is available separately from LEGO as part of the 2.0 SDK. You can use this firmware with a 1.5 set (or even a 1.0 set). If you are not planning on using the Lego software then the only difference between 2.0 and 1.5 is that 2.0 has (...) (23 years ago, 21-Mar-02, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.nqc)

What about instead of creating a full featured firmware that will never be good enough for *everything* we want to do, we create a dynamic firmware downloader that we could specify what we would want to download? (...) Yes. Only available in RCX 2.0's firmware (which you can download from the Lego web site and run on 1.0 or 1.5 RCX sets) - and you need a pretty recent version of NQC that supports that new firmware. It's kinda weird though. You don't say "Put (...) (24 years ago, 27-Dec-00, to lugnet.robotics)

  Messing with memory pool

I'm working on a custom firmware with a new VM. I'm currently trying to reuse the NXT-G memory pool to hold data for the new VM, but I'm running into problems. Apparently, doing a memset to set all of the pool to 0x00 causes the firmware to crash. (...) (17 years ago, 16-Jul-07, to lugnet.robotics.nxt.nxthacking)
