  Items removed from Brickshelf

In the posts on the #238 Lego book (1960-68), Eric Strand had to have the #238 scans removed from Brickshelf, and so he put them onto his own website. I was looking thru Brickshelf, and I noticed that the scans for Lego Book #239 were missing (this (...) (20 years ago, 13-Nov-04, to lugnet.general)

(...) Let me clarify this statement.... there are so many different variations on early sets (the color something is painted, the color combinations, the box picture, etc), that with some sets such as #214 (classic windows/doors spare parts) there (...)   Re: Items removed from Brickshelf

(...) Today people expect a set number on every Lego item. Back in the 50's and 60's that was not the case. Many Lego items were produced back then without numbers. Wooden box sets are a good example. They were produced as numbers: #700, #700K, (...) (20 years ago, 16-Nov-04, to lugnet.general)

Appreciating what TLG and Lego Direct have done for AFOL's

Hi Jake, I NEVER get involved with controversial issues on LUGNET, but I couldn't stay quiet any longer (or I might explode into a million minifig parts). First off, the color change thing. OK, it's a done deal. People GET OVER IT!!!! If you don't (...) (20 years ago, 19-Nov-04, to lugnet.lego) !!

Re: Appraisal of Old Style Lego

(...) OK, Here's a few helpful tips. If 2x2, 2x3, 2x4 pieces have NO tubes underneath, and they have slots on 2 of the sides of the bricks, they are from 1949-56. If 2x2, 2x3, 2x4 pieces have NO tubes underneath, and they have NO slots on the sides (...) (20 years ago, 21-Nov-04, to lugnet.market.appraisal)

(...) Steve, I agree with you on the Technic argument. I personally haven't liked Town since the 1970's, but others don't see it that way. Around 1980 I started to build MOCs. Granted a lot of AFOL's prefer to build mostly what the company comes out (...) (20 years ago, 21-Nov-04, to lugnet.lego)

How LEGO FACTORY can stimulate AFOL interest (and sales).

I was looking at the Lego Factory site yesterday. And like some other AFOLs I was rather disappointed with the Micro Lego scale. I don't care much for those 1x1 headlights (or pigeon holes as I like to call them) used as windows. It is too bad that (...) (20 years ago, 21-Nov-04, to lugnet.general)

Re: Appraisal of Old Style Lego

(...) Rachel, Do they all say "LEGO" on the studs? Most of the 1949-56 Lego does not, 1957-present does. The 1x6 and 1x8 beams without posts (as they are known versus the tubes on the 2x bricks) were made that way until 1964 (until 1970 in some (...) This was not the first time TLG made a major change. They did it twice before. (...) (20 years ago, 21-Nov-04, to lugnet.lego)

  Identifying AFOLs on LUGNET

I had this idea last night, and I was wondering if it makes sense (I'm sure I'll hear from pro's and con's). Here it is: What if Lugnetter had a 4 digit code to identify them from a Lego collector perspective. Here's what I mean: 1st digit: (collect (...) (20 years ago, 23-Nov-04, to lugnet.general)

(...) Dave, Gray actually goes back to the 1950's. I have a 10x20 thick baseplate in gray without "Lego" on the studs (pre 1957). The 10x20 baseplates first came out in 1953, but I cannot confirm that they started in gray that year. The next (...) (20 years ago, 24-Nov-04, to lugnet.color)
