  Old question for LEGO Direct

Hi Jake, Tomas and folks at LD. I have asked this questions a few times before, but I was still wondering...... 2001 is the 40th Anniversary of LEGO in the USA. But due to the Samsonite years of 1961-72, I don't think that LEGO recognizes it as such (...) (24 years ago, 12-Feb-01, to lugnet.lego.direct)

The effects of Bulk Sales are evident....

I was browsing some of the LUGNET sites I usually don't have time for, such as lugnet.town, (I usually hang out in lugnet.general) when I stumbled across this classic beauty.... (URL) Chan built this nice classical building called Laural Hall. He (...) (24 years ago, 12-Feb-01, to lugnet.lego.direct, lugnet.general)

(...) I know where you're coming from. Back in 1987 I bought NINETY of the 517 small basic sets just to get enough windows (180 1x4x3 yellow and 180 1x2x2 yellow) to finish my 25 story ONE SHELL PLAZA Art Deco office building back then (building is (...) John proportionality is important, but I don't think your buildings are too large. Perhaps their layout is too small??? :-) Actually the best look is what I call the "cluster look". It looks better if you have large structures in groupings. Say 3 (...) (24 years ago, 13-Feb-01, to lugnet.trains.org)

Sorry Kevin, but I missed the announcement. I'll have to enter the next contest you have. I just looked at the entrants, and I am impressed. I see Kevin Loch is building himself a downtown. Great job! My current project is CENTRAL STATION, a large (...) (24 years ago, 13-Feb-01, to lugnet.lego.direct, lugnet.general)

Is there a "Bottleneck in Billund"?

Is there a bottleneck in Billund? No I don't mean problems in bulks sales, what I mean is "rare colors". I recently talked to someone (unnamed) who was visiting LEGOLAND in Billund, and got to meet with some folks at the company. I was informed that (...) (...) Hey thanks Mark. I am always happy when I see some really inspiring buildings that follow historical styles. Your Laural Hall has a very nice 18th century colonial look and feel to it. I love your use of the 1x1 cones, and of course the (...) (24 years ago, 14-Feb-01, to lugnet.lego.direct, lugnet.general)

Re: Old question for LEGO Direct

Thanks Tomas, If memory serves me correctly LEGO Chairman Kjeld Kirk Kristiensen (KKK) helped start up the USA/LEGO in Enfield. That was before he became Chairman. Is his father GKC still alive. I thought not, but at the moment I'm not sure. I know (...) (24 years ago, 15-Feb-01, to lugnet.lego.direct)

OK, now what we have to do is to figure out what 45 degree brown slopes are available, and which ones aren't (too bad Rob Farver isn't around to help here). I know I've seen a few of these around. So we now have the 4x2 sloped brick, and the 4x2 (...) (24 years ago, 21-Feb-01, to lugnet.general)

  Esso Service Station

From 1955-65 LEGO made the Esso Service Station. This came in set #310 (in Europe only) and in the Town Plan sets #810 (Europe/Austrailia/New Zealand) and #725 (USA/Canada). On an older post, I mentioned the fact that in the earlier years (1955-61) (...) (24 years ago, 23-Feb-01, to lugnet.general)
