  Re: interfacing PCs with LEGO?

(...) It's pretty challenging to build such a thing out of Lego. Having all of those degrees of freedom down at the hand tends to push you to solutions where the motors and sensors for those things are a long way out on the arm - that means that (...) Hi, Last thing first. Sorry, I did not see your reply to my reply -- when I saw the message go off the highlight list I assumed no more replies had been posted. Your comments there are very helpful, thank you! As for recording my MOC designs, the (...) (20 years ago, 18-Aug-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

  Re: challenge: LEGO copier

(...) Almost impossible. Personally, I'd have a hard time building this with my hands, much less building a robot to do it. It could easily require three grippers just to put the pieces together. Definitely beyond anything I'd be interesting in (...) (20 years ago, 5-Aug-04, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: challenge: LEGO copier

(...) Why would that be impossible? You'd start by building up the sides; when you've done row B, then you can attach the block in row C, followed by the one in row D. So yes, this means the robot has to be able to move back and forth; it can't just (...) (20 years ago, 5-Aug-04, to lugnet.robotics)

If you consider basic friendships as meeting the requirement for that tier, it really throws a different spin on that than if you consider it as only referring to dating-or-higher relationships. There have been studies showing that even having (...) (20 years ago, 6-Aug-04, to lugnet.off-topic.debate, FTX)

  Re: challenge: LEGO copier

(...) No - you'd just use a touch sensor that you could lower down onto the model you are 'scanning' - it would be easy enough to measure whether there was a hole or a brick. (...) The Lego camera isn't really much use because it can't talk to the (...) (20 years ago, 5-Aug-04, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: challenge: LEGO copier

(...) I'm sorry, but I find this VERY funny. :) But you've already said how little you really know about building, so I guess it's OK. A robot that could copy a continuous model is something that would be very do-able. On the other hand, if you (...) (20 years ago, 5-Aug-04, to lugnet.robotics)

Hi Tim, Since I just spent a week doing this, let me throw in a few caveats: If you're talking about going from DAT to reality using an RP machine, you're going to have to tweak some of the dimensions. As you know, DAT dimensions are not the (...) (20 years ago, 2-Aug-04, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.events, FTX)

Thanks for the prompt reply. :) I am aware of the rotate buttons, and have been using them allot. I even reset the button for the axis I'm working with to step 1 instead of 15, to try and get it lined up. It's still not working. :) To give you an (...) I guess I've never really investigated the meaning; rather I've just gone by how people use it (which, for philosophic terms, I'm more inclined to doing anyway, and reject outright whatever a dictionary says if it tells me differently (...) (...) I dislike that term because it's often seen as too wishy-washy, or a way to hedge one's bet. It can also carry a connotation of undecidedness, due not to a lack of evidence but a lack of conclusion. Additionally, if you say "I'm an agnostic" (...)
