  Re: TV-B-Gone

(...) sentiment. While I was at UCLA, at first the student union food court had one TV, which was over at one end. So students who wanted to watch while they ate would sit over there. The rest of the tables were filled with students studying while (...) (20 years ago, 28-Oct-04, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

bad motor output because of bad lego firmware?!

Hi there, I've spent the last two days trying to write a function in NQC that transfers data to the Lepomux I/O-extender. The data transfer is normally done by connecting the Lepomux to one of the motor ports. Each transition from one motor state to (...) (20 years ago, 28-Oct-04, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.nqc)

Re: SciBrick is looking for you!

Sorry for prolonging this, but a few things in the post below trouble me. (...) Depends how much space you need to save, I guess. If you're using varchar's or text fields (for profiles certainly), you're only adding an extra... 2 bytes for a null entry? Forget if it's 1 or 2. So maybe 18 bytes extra per member. I guess (...) (20 years ago, 25-Oct-04, to lugnet.org.scibrick, FTX)

Re: Combat strategies and tactics in space. Was: Jormungand Carrier Strike Craft

In space, it would be almost impossible to predict where a fleet could drop to sublight. In Wing Commander, the movie with Freddie Prinz Jr. and Matthew Lilliard, if the good guys hadn't captured the ConComm and taken the jump coordinates then the (...) (20 years ago, 20-Oct-04, to lugnet.space)

  Re: Telehandler

The steering works best if the entire vehicle is in motion (like a car without power steering). Since it is turning all 4 wheels, more torque must be exerted to turn the steering ball than if 2 wheels were being turned. Another issue is the weight. (...)   Re: Combat strategies and tactics in space. Was: Jormungand Carrier Strike Craft

The Wing Commander reference had nothing to do with physics. In reality, space is huge. To choose where a fleet of invading ships is going to drop out of FTL would be next to impossible without good intel or really really good sensors. But before we (...)
