K, that caught me completely off guard. An absolute stunning event, and the West Wing still holds no punches. Now friends, in the 'old days' when Babylon 5 was still in production, I frequently surfed the rudimentary internets of the time to find (...) (21 years ago, 7-Apr-05, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: Raytracing a primarily black model

(...) I think I've decided just to use different colors instead of worrying about rendering black. I'll be easier to make it more photo-realistic this way. --Bram (21 years ago, 7-Apr-05, to lugnet.cad.ray, FTX)

Re: Small Pirate Cutter - Test Design

(...) as you don't mix the two, it won't be any problem, and even if you do, it's not that much difference to lose sleep over. Frank (21 years ago, 7-Apr-05, to lugnet.pirates)

Re: Raytracing a primarily black model

(...) I've had some success with black parts and radiosity. You can view the results (URL) here> and let me know if you think the radiosity settings that I used would be helpful.   Re: Raytracing a primarily black model

(...) Right...I was just wondering if anyone had particular settings they used in POV-Ray that worked well. Otherwise it's just that much trial and error on my part, which is really slow when you're using radiosity. --Bram (21 years ago, 7-Apr-05, to lugnet.cad.ray, FTX)

  Re: This would work

(...) The rear-end design is the best. It would work in case anyone wanted to build a 2005 Mustang which has solid rear suspension. (URL) (21 years ago, 7-Apr-05, to lugnet.technic)

Re: LEGO reports improved financial results

(...) The BBC is not exactly positive either. (URL) I guess it depends on what the percieved improvement is rather than the current status. I guess one thing LEGO really suffer for is that they can't shift their manufacture around much like other (...) (21 years ago, 7-Apr-05, to lugnet.lego, FTX)

Re: LEGO reports improved financial results

(...) It was interesting to note that other Google alerts that I got yesterday gave links to stories that were more like what you describe above. I guess it might be all in how you interpret the numbers. Although things may still not be fantastic, (...) (21 years ago, 7-Apr-05, to lugnet.lego)

Re: What's up with the Wal*mart Lego selection?

(...) Same here in Charleston, SC. However, Target still has an excellent LEGO selection and while they're not as widespread as WalMart, they seem to have a few stores in every region (I'm not sure about the Boone area though). -Orion (21 years ago, 7-Apr-05, to lugnet.general)

Re: What's up with the Wal*mart Lego selection?

(...) FWIW, my local Wal*Mart (western PA) just added a bunch of Star Wars EPIII stuff to its LEGO aisle, while the MegaBloks inventory has remained about the same for several months. I know that MegaBloks has new sets coming out within a month or (...) (21 years ago, 7-Apr-05, to lugnet.general)

Re: What's up with the Wal*mart Lego selection?

(...) It's a nationwide trend, from what I've heard. WalMart has been gradually favoring MegaBloks for various reasons, and not purchasing as much Lego. Mainly, I think it's due to WalMart's analysis software which helps them predict what will sell (...) (21 years ago, 7-Apr-05, to lugnet.general)

Re: What's up with the Wal*mart Lego selection?

(...) I find the same thing here in Vermont. It's getting to the point where it's almost impossible to buy Lego retail. WalMart had a few Duplo tubs and Bionicle, and then the rest of the "Lego" aisle was full of MegaBloks. Same story at K-Mart. At (...) (21 years ago, 7-Apr-05, to lugnet.general)

  Re: questions

(...) No, that would be perfectly fine. Currently I'm not sure what is formally scheduled for the morning hours of Friday, but due to the nature of the GBC, modules can (& will) be added anytime they come in. Detailed schedules have not yet been (...) (21 years ago, 7-Apr-05, to lugnet.events.houseofbricks)

Re: Raytracing a primarily black model

(...) Hi Bram, I'm not much of a ray tracing expert, but this is an issue that even LEGO has addressed. When I look at building instructions by LEGO, they translate black parts to a dark gray, almost the same color as the original dark gray. Many (...) (21 years ago, 7-Apr-05, to lugnet.cad.ray, FTX)

What's up with the Wal*mart Lego selection?

I live in a small town in western North Carolina and I often travel to nearby towns and cities to look for deals on Lego in places like Wal*mart. Lately, I've noticed a disturbing trend. The stores in the following cities have *very little* Lego on (...) (21 years ago, 7-Apr-05, to lugnet.general)

  Re: caster wheel design

you can use omniwheels, like the ones from Charmed Labs: (URL) only sell the single-row ones, but the double-row ones ((URL) can be adapted to Lego robots quite easily.
