No, that would be perfectly fine. Currently I'm not sure what is formally
scheduled for the morning hours of Friday, but due to the nature of the GBC,
modules can (& will) be added anytime they come in. Detailed schedules have not
yet been set, but we will likely have at least a small section always running
with minimal supervision, and have announced "feeding times" a couple of times a
day both Saturday and Sunday to try to get the whole GBC up and running at full
tilt, with builders there in a more "hands on" session.
> Also how are mocs displayed?
It depends a little on the number that end up, we will probably have a long
table or U-shaped table with the GBC assembled along it, and a train module
running along the "backplane" to send balls from the end of the GBC modules back
to the beginning. I'll have MOC cards so builders can have their modules
labeled.
It would help in setting up the GBC if each potential module had a "spec
card" filled out so I had a uniform way to keep track of all the modules coming.
Ideally, I'd like to know:
1) Module name & builder
2) Size: width & depth (preferably in studs), & height
3) Lift mechanism(s) & output type (continuous or batch output)
4) Preferred input: Continuous? Batch? No preference?
5) Peak throughput: in balls per second, or bps (aim for at least 1 bps)
6) Power source: Battery box? RCX? Pneumatic? Other? Do you need
access to a powerstrip?
7) Description: feel free to include what the module does, as well
as any special abilities or features, or anything else you want
to draw attention towards.
8) Total testing time (how many minutes or hours has the module been run?
This is to get an idea of the expected reliability)?
Note: this is the same as posted in http://news.lugnet.com/announce/?n=2843 but
with the addition of the testing time estimate.
Any non-GBC MOC's would be displayed nearby (perhaps on the same table; space
will be flexible, with all the LEGO hopefully in one big room), and the owners
can again runs them "hands on" anytime they wish, but particularly at the "feed
times". I'll try to find a wall so you can hang the clock (how does it mount to
the wall?).
> Im bringing the clockwork from my clock, my MrRail and Scissor Rail.
Excellent! I will have 4-5 modules, including Gus (a forklift), Cascade
(allows kids to "make-a-GBC" on-site), Switchyard (allows multiple outputs), and
Windmill (a simple). I'll probably bring some stock LEGO kits for display as
well.
