  Re: AFOLs and Mindstorms

I got answers to a some of the questions we've been asking from Jan Beyer about the contest. Question: There seems to be two aspects to the competition. You mention registration is required by February "so you can work at home", as well as an event (...) (21 years ago, 30-Nov-04, to lugnet.lego, lugnet.robotics)

Re: Town Hall - Micro Scale for Lego Factory Contest

(...) Very nice work there! Some really good detail work, and with only single parts...the bell is just clever! The dark red gives the building a distinguished feel, too...the tan deatil work is also nice. Your double jumper plate solution to the (...) (21 years ago, 30-Nov-04, to lugnet.town, FTX)

  Re: MOC: Shuriken

(...) Yeah, that part wouldn't do anything for the length. I look forward to the new version. (my interest is purely sculptural of course...) (...) Indeed.   Super Cief Consists

The old Super Cief Consists link doesn't work any more. But I've found another site that has some good information regarding the early streamline versions (uses E1 engines enstead of F3s).   Re: More Butters Fun

(...) snip (...) Your original Butters is pretty nice, and seems pretty accurate. That shuriken scene was so wrong, but so funny. Great job!   Re: Final draft of the letter?

Hey, David, After giving it a quick read, I've got two suggestions: 1) I don't see anything wrong with addressing the letter to a real person, ideally the CEO of LEGO (whose name escapes me at the moment). I think a personally-addressed letter makes (...) (21 years ago, 30-Nov-04, to lugnet.color, FTX)

  RE: Motor Speed Control

(...) :) (...) I'm not sure how the Swan firmware does it, but I have mine set so it cycles every 8 ms. It's on for 0 to 8 ms, then off (brake) for the rest, depending on the speed. That's fast enough to produce a very smooth result. There is no (...) (21 years ago, 30-Nov-04, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.nqc)

  RE: Motor Speed Control

(...) Actually, it's more like standing on the brakes, letting go and then gunning the gas, stepping off the gas and standing on the brakes :-) And yes, that WILL use more gas, and more batteries. Now, if the resolutiion of timing for the brake (...) (21 years ago, 30-Nov-04, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.nqc)

  RE: Motor Speed Control

(...) Yes, but I think the "power" portion of the cycle will draw more, because it's always trying to go from stop to full speed. Like driving a car with the brakes on. Start with the brake totally pressed, and the more you push on the gas, the less (...) (21 years ago, 30-Nov-04, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.nqc)

Re: Color change: **CEO Draft Letter**

(...) Have you ever watched a child (10 and under) play with LEGO? Quite often the brick size and shape is way more important than the colour. Take a look at the "kid creations" in the LEGO Magazine.   RE: Motor Speed Control

(...) The brake function (as far as I know) should not use more battery power as the short circuit is in the driver chip itself. The drivers are MOSFETs, so setting the H bridge to brake does not actually apply any battery power to the motor (...) (21 years ago, 30-Nov-04, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.nqc)
