Re: Custom Built LEGO Sets in 2002

(...) I have to admit, my LEGO CAD experience is limited to a single program. I picked what appeared to be the most popular and best supported, and dove in. Way too user-unfriendly, IMHO, so I didn't bother to check out what seemed to be the bit (...) (24 years ago, 7-Dec-00, to lugnet.lego.direct, lugnet.general)

  Re: Wishful Thinking of AFOL

Lawrence, I prefer to look at the current selection of bulk bricks in a positive light. For one thing, the program has only been in place for a few months. Give Lego a chance to work with the feedback from the community and expand the program. I'm (...) (24 years ago, 7-Dec-00, to lugnet.general)

Re: A few of my SW MOCS

Since I haven't seen the Shuttle or AT-ST yet, other than the pics, I can't comment too much. But the AT-ST looks much better than the official one I think. Also, is the Shuttle actually white??? The Lego version, I mean, I thought it was grey? And (...) (24 years ago, 7-Dec-00, to lugnet.starwars)

  What's Left? (Classic)

I was just thinking about the SW sets we've seen so far from the Classic Trilogy, and I was realising that TLC is almost out of major vehicles! Forget speculation about what they *might* do next, what's left to do? *TIE Interceptor *TIE Bomber I (...) (24 years ago, 7-Dec-00, to lugnet.starwars)

Re: A few of my SW MOCS

(...) <snip> (...) The AT-ST is quite swell, I'm fairly impressed. I like the Falcon and the Shuttle too, but I think the best of the bunch is the AT-ST. The Falcon retains the overall "feel" of the Lego set, but looks much better. I don't have the (...) (24 years ago, 7-Dec-00, to lugnet.starwars)

Re: Custom Built LEGO Sets in 2002

(...) Well, the data format is a bit arcane but I'm not sure I'd characterise MLCad (to pick my favorite) as "antiquated"... it's pretty slick. But that's just my opinion, of course. It's been years since I last played with AutoCAD. I'd ask this, is (...) (24 years ago, 7-Dec-00, to lugnet.lego.direct, lugnet.general)

Re: Custom Built LEGO Sets in 2002

(...) Because some of use aren't so uptight about model designs that we feel the need to "protect" them from TLC, and would actually very much *like* to have instructions for our models, without having to suffer through an anitquated home-brewed CAD (...)   Re: Custom Built LEGO Sets in 2002

(...) Ahh, yes. Another use for the scrambler. Give it the parts list you want, and have it emit a model using them to upload to TLC to place your order. If TLC is smart, they will have the input be a parts list, and then tell us how to upload just (...) (24 years ago, 7-Dec-00, to lugnet.lego.direct, lugnet.general)

Re: Custom Built LEGO Sets in 2002

(...) Yes! I meant to state this yesterday but I forgot. Many thanks Jon for nailing the issue so well with one stroke. Sell us the elements in bulk, or to order, and let us worry about the designs... -- Richard (24 years ago, 7-Dec-00, to lugnet.lego.direct, lugnet.general)

Re: Custom Built LEGO Sets in 2002

  Wishful Thinking of AFOL

Sorry to sound negative, but everyone seems to be letting their imaginations run away with themselves in this threads regarding this lego statement "In 2002 LEGO builders will be able to build any three dimensional creation using free software to (...)   Re: Custom Built LEGO Sets in 2002

(...) I agree to some extent... I think the parents are very much to blame for this, though. I mean, who actually buys LEGO? Parents do, and most of them steer clear of the Classic line in favor of flashy themes. It's really interesting to listen to (...) (24 years ago, 7-Dec-00, to lugnet.lego.direct, lugnet.general)

A few of my SW MOCS

Recently I found the AT-ST and Imperial Shuttle and had to modify right away. It also so-happens I finished my Millenium Falcon about the same time, so I felt motivated to put pics of all three models up. The AT-ST is totally different from the (...) (24 years ago, 7-Dec-00, to lugnet.starwars)
