  HMS Scimitar sets sail!

well, its been ahwile since i last posted, but i was finally able to get pictures of my newest ship. introducing: her majesty's light frigate Scimitar. (URL) of course! she carries 24 guns, 18 on the lower deck and 6 on the upper. she is 4 wide (...) (21 years ago, 7-Oct-03, to lugnet.pirates, lugnet.announce.moc, lugnet.build) !

(...) I can't wait to see her... But while the folder awaits moderation.... (...) First, you need to change the format of your post from from 'plain text' to Formatted Text (FTX). You can then insert pictures using double angled brackets (a pair of (...) (21 years ago, 7-Oct-03, to lugnet.pirates, FTX)

(...) And it's now moderated. This ship looks very nice! (...) The sails are great! I typically furl the lower sails, to keep the deck clear. The heavy canvas holds its shape nicely, too. (...) I've thought about using grey, but had decided it would (...) (21 years ago, 7-Oct-03, to lugnet.pirates, FTX)

  Re: HMS Scimitar sets sail!

First of all, I *really* wish people would post these URLs with the *human-named* directory structure, and *not* with the CGI-named one... For ex., *this*: (URL) of *this*: (URL) gotten *that* off my chest... ;) Ahoy, matey! That thar be a most (...) (21 years ago, 7-Oct-03, to lugnet.pirates)

  Re: HMS Scimitar sets sail!

So I decide I'll drop by the board for the first time in a few weeks, try to catch up, and whatnot. And then I open that link and the first words out of my mouth are "Oh *my*!" That's a good thing, trust me! I must say, you've captured the feel of a (...) (21 years ago, 8-Oct-03, to lugnet.pirates)

  Re: HMS Scimitar sets sail!

(...) Just echoing everyone else's comments - its beautiful! The sterncastle is particularly well realised, as are the curves round the front (am I allowed to say 'front' in here?). It blows everything else out of the water! (ahahaha) With all the (...) (21 years ago, 8-Oct-03, to lugnet.pirates)

  Re: HMS Scimitar sets sail!

(...) snip! (...) Hi Steve, Nice looking ship! I think you did a nice job with the stern! It captures that bowed feature common in old ships nicely! You also did a good job with the color scheme! Nice work! Tom (21 years ago, 8-Oct-03, to lugnet.pirates)

  Re: HMS Scimitar sets sail!

This one is really TOP ! Perfect job, I love it. One small minor point: I see these non-shooting canons on deck. The fact they can't shoot, doesn't mean 'no bullets needed' !! I think you should add some, just for looks of course :-) Great work! (...) (21 years ago, 8-Oct-03, to lugnet.pirates)

  Re: HMS Scimitar sets sail!

(...) thank you! (...) yeah, it works pretty well, but due to the weave, wants to come apart at the edges if you are not careful! (...) thanks kenneth! i might try a similar 5 center section one in the future, with slightly different accents, as my custom sails came out okay. my fleet is growing! ha ha ha! other non-british types may want to sleep with one eye open :-) now if (...)   Re: HMS Scimitar sets sail!

(...) thanks tom, i have always been unsatisfied with the sterns on my other ships, and have craved the appearance of the traditional ones on the real ships. my goal is to create period accurate ships as best as possible, but lego doesnt always make (...)   Re: HMS Scimitar sets sail!

(...) Very nice, very nice indeed. That stern gallery really did come out nicely, and the 3/4 after view cuts very well. Hmmm, a third-rate...you'd probably have to get away from the LEGO hulls for that; but I have no doubt it can be done. And it (...) (21 years ago, 8-Oct-03, to lugnet.pirates)
