The bridge logo may be attractive on a web page... but I like the map/words
logo because it will make a better embroidered logo when put on a shirt.
Even then I would say use a blue state outline instead of solid blue!!!

As was discussed last night, I love the bridge logo, but I think
practically, the map logo is a simpler and more effective one. the bridge
one can be the welcome mat to the webpage.

Hold on a sec.... by golly...yup...when you're right, you're right! The
Ambassador Bridge is sky blue with the big dang "Ambassador Bridge" sign on top.
IN THAT CASE...I prefer the other logo. And here I thought this was a token
to the Canadian contingent...sheesh! Hey, what can I tell ya? Even as an
AFOL, I get no respect! It's ain't easy bein' me! ;^D

Actually, we had a guy from Canada start at B&V, reminded me a lot of you,
in terms of commuting and the like, his is 1.5 hours to Ann Arbor, at least
2 on the way home. Ugh!

Bah! It takes me 25-30 minutes in the morning on average. It was 45-50
minutes back before all the Chrysler and GM layoffs: they seemed to axe the
Canadian commuters first because now it's usually a ghost town (tumbleweeds
and all) when I cross at the tunnel. In the summer it was like D-Day or
something just trying to get TO the toll booths!
Anyways, not to stray too far off topic, I think: the Michigan logo is
nice, and doesn't let people feel geographically left out. Even if SOME of
us are moving out of State. The problem with the bridge is, hey, not
everyone knows about it. So there is less relation in my mind.
But that is only my opinion and I'm just a crazy foreigner who was raised on
Tim Horton's honey glazed and apple fritter donuts and saying things like:
"Ooooh, ya...you know, eh, dat dere donut's a good one! Nice and big and
soft and steamin', eh? And it's got a big hole in it, it does, eh? Just
like Joe Clark's head, eh? Maybe I can try to plug it up with a Timbit,
oooh ya!"
So what would I know about Michigan anyway? :^D

Heh, I lived in Michigan most of my life, let's say 20 out of my 25.7 years,
and I did not see the Mac until 1999, when I got my Suburban. : )

Wow, that is interesting. Are you frightened that you lived
here 10 years, or that you have never been north of Flint?
Bay City, Saginaw, etc. ae not that thrilling, but Traverse
City, Petoski, etc. are nice, there are a lot of nice parks
and lakes. Higgins Lake is beautiful, Houghton Lake is
crowded.

If you haven't gotten out of Southeast Michigan, you're not *really* a
Michigander. ;) Once you leave the One City, it's a whole different
forest.

Steve is right,you need to go north.The Big Mac is great up close(as well as
the Grand hotel)Fort Mackinac etc.Rifle river near the thumb is another
great place to go.

The best view I've had of the Mackinac Bridge was on the ferry to Mackinac
Island. There were probably some very good views from the island itself,
but once I got there, I was too busy to think about the outside world.
We didn't/haven't go to the Grand Hotel. We did rent a copy of the
Christopher Reeves movie...

... and the towns Scott names off in the northern Lower are darn nifty too.
Walloon Lake, the Leelenau peninsula, riding the Ironton Ferry across the
East Jordan arm of Lake Charlevoix. Great stuff.

Ah, yes it is, I have been there twice (thats alot for somebody born and
raised in Southern California, lol) Very nice up there :)
I have realtives in Owosso and Elsie (anybody heard of Elsie??) I used to
live in an apartment complex in Los Angeles that had more people living in
it than lived in Elsie. My grandparents used to own a jewelry store there,
and they had another one - I think it was in Lansing (?).
And yes, I have been to Makinaw (did I spell it right?) Island and been on
the bridge - even had the fudge, lol, I look foward to returning one of
these days.

I still have the Petoskey stones we gathered from the shore many years ago.
My son thinks they are the "coolest rocks" he has ever seen. Can you still
find them on the shoreline?? This would be a neat thing for my son.

If you are really lucky. They are getting very hard to find on beaches,
everyone looks for them there.
The way to find good ones is to haunt construction excavations. We found
some huge (over 100 pounds) ones that way when they were building the
development where I grew up (we had house #4 out of about 30)... and that is
still the good way. Take a bucket of water with you to wash the dirt off and
see the coral more clearly.
My understanding is that this fossil coral is estimated to be about 300M
years old or so.

Well, I am lucky I even remembered the town, there Lar! I try to watch my
spelling, but I goof, and I admit it. And the fact I was typing a zillion
words a mintue at work.
Anyway, the upper part of the LP and the UP are very nice, and it is a
definite place to visit, if not live there.

The BEST place in the UP is definately the Keewenaw peninsula, IMHO, its
just so beautiful. It is a must for a UP tour.

Although the Porkies are very pretty, and Pictured Rocks are amazing, and
you shouldn't miss Taquahmanon Falls, I have to agree, the Copper Country is
the best...
Our fraternity used to go Copper Country Cruising on nice weekends. For some
reason we often ended up at the Gay Bar, in Gay, MI, which is a nice ride
and had an amazing gun collection, although the ride to Copper Harbor is not
to be missed.
