I think the rating I would give the following is: (if helmet/hat not mentioned
is because it is considered junk in the independent study:-)
10 Grill helmet
10 Sallet Helmet (Visored
10 Bullet
8 barbute (not really a barbute since the flange is really suppose to be
chainmail, so would be a norman helm) Marked down 2 because of flange should
have just been the helm.
10 New helmet (forget the name) Real period style will fit in good. Better
that the barbute only because they should have made the barbute more accurate
to the real norman helm.
10 green robin hood hat
10 crowl
Best crest fig was the falcon most realistic, though lion would come close.
They will probably never make again because of cost. the silver and gold part.

I never realised that TLG stopped using gold/yellow on their figs anymore. Does
anyone know when did they stop? I don't have my Castle figs with me :( but IIRC,
the crusader (lion crested) fig in the forestman set 6077 (River Fortress) didn't
have any gold on his torso, so it must be around 1988/89 that they stopped using
the gold/silver "print".

~ maybe not in castle theme, but the recent ufo and insectoid series had silver
and gold printed detailing not only on the torso pieces, but on the legs and
heads as well...
i just looked at my crusader 'fig from #6077 (assembled right in front of me),
and he does have metalic gold on his torso. maybe it's because it's "new". i
opened this set from a sealed box 3 weeks ago.

The "robot" minifig(s) have gold/silver printing on them.

I can't remember my castle figs too well now - they are in storage :(
> The "robot" minifig(s) have gold/silver printing on them.
That's right, I forgot that the android figs - the red ones in Spyrius/Unitron and the
white ones in Exploriens - and the alien figs have gold/silver prints, but then classic
space figs and futron always had the gold "logo". Do Insectoid figs have gold/silver
prints as well?
I suppose that since TLG has been using gold/silver on recent figs (aka Space figs),
they could technically produce them for castle, but with the huge amount of Juniorizing
that goes into the Castle sets, I doubt this would be so.

I wonder if the metallic paint TLG uses now stands up to wear better
than than the gold paint of yore. One of my big disappointments as
an adult trader - trading figures to get a 'crossed axe' figure with
gold paint on his torso, popping him in my pocket to take to work,
forgetting he was there and carrying him around for a day or two, and
finding that I'd worn off most of his paint. Argh. For some reason
I think that the droid torso paint wouldn't wear off quite as quickly.

Why do you say this? Metallic paint was used on the torsos
as recently as the Dark Forest and Fright Knight sets. And I
thought (although I don't have any with me to check) that
it was also used to provide detailing on the torsos of various
ninja minifigs.

Yes youre right, both gold and silver are used on the Ninja's, I only have
three ninja figures (not my specialty), but I had a look and one has gold and
two have silver detailing.

Ack! I must be in the middle of my first dark ages then. You are right, there are
gold and silver on those torso.
Going to hid in his dark age,

and arrow

Oh, me too. I can't pick a single favorite minifig. But that's
pretty close. Particularly if tricked out with black bow and
quiver from the western sets. I have one of those in a Postion
of Honor overlooking my computer right now.
If there's one I like more than that, it might be the figure with
dark brown armor from the Dark Forest sets. He's standing
beside the black knight archer.
Of course, a question like this isn't limited only to the configurations
offered by the sets. The third figure standing next to those is the
witch, but I've replaced her head with the female face from the
Adventurer sets. A foxy witch*. =)

characterization of LEGO witches in r.t.l a few years back.

My favorite custom mini-fig is my elite Black Falcon knight. Here's the
recipe:
- blue helmet with dark gray "pig nose" visor and blue dragon decorations
- blue armor torso with black arms and blue hands
- dark gray suit of armor over torso
- gray legs with black waist
- Black Knight knight head
- black sword and blue falcon shield
I've also got a Black Falcon king, queen (maiden from Maiden's Cart with a
traditional Castle/Pirate/Islander woman head), princess (King's Mountain
Fortress princess with a white hat and white arms), and a prince. They look
very cool together! (Or they will, once I get the second white hat,
second black sword, and second silver armor piece I need.)

Yeah, that sounds like a cool one Rick. Hmmm, my favorite? I'm going to have
to say the crusader on horse:
-Grey helmet with grey visor. Red medium size plume.
-smiley head (of course)
-grey armor piece (I'd buy some of these)
-red torso with plate armor painted on it
-blue arms
-blue legs black belt
And he carries:
-yellow crusaders shield
-grey sword
His horse:
-white horse
-red carpet with yellow lions (if anyone has extras of these, I'm looking for
them as well)
-brown jousting pole with yellow and red flag
-another sword or crossbow
Well, thats my fav. He looks very kingly :)

My favorite is the "White Knight" in set#6086 Black Knight's (or Dungeon
Master's) Castle. It's the knight on a white horse with the blue and black
armor with dragon design, the gray helmet with gray visor, white dragon plume
and wings, and a white flag on his jousting pole. I'm struck by the beautiful
contrast of a knight with a white motif being associated with the "Black"
Knights and the "Dungeon Master's" Castle.

Right you are Jonathan - I didn't spot him in Fibblesnork because his visor is
down. So I guess he's more versatile than I thought. Still cute though :-)
