Hi!

Chapter 1 is up, see it here:

This chapter started out more than 3 months ago (wow!) as a follow-up to this
post and its replies:
http://www.lugnet.com/castle/?n=2275
I felt this was a great place to start, Castle World was just being formed at
the time and what could be better than a mutual storyline? Craig shared this
feeling. Eventually, however, we decided that I'll write the chapter by
myself, all thwe while including a visiting character from Craig's realm.
Periodically, I sent him versions of the chapter and he suggested, commented,
and was very helpful.
Thus far part 1. I would've published it a long time ago, but it wasn't
actually complete 'til last week - and by that time I had decided to attach it
to part 2.

A month or so ago, as part of a trade, Matthew Wilkins sent me a character of
his by snail-mail, with her description. We talked - a lot! - and together, we
wrote the second part of the chapter. He also reviewed and revised everyuthing
I had written until that point.

About the method of travel that the visitor from Craigs realm used - that's an
RDP. Stands for Revolving Door Portal. It was first introduced by Craig on
this post:
http://www.lugnet.com/castle/?n=2272

Also, if you haven't recognized the visitor yet, feel free to check out
Craig's homepage...
http://community-2.webtv.net/anonymouseye/craigolego/

Any constructive criticism would be extremely welcome!

I had a great time writing this, I just hope my next chapter won't take as
long to write... :-)

I'm oh-so-grateful to Craig and Matthew, your support got me a long way!

I think that's all. Phew!

Thats amazing! Your charaters are what really struck me... They all have their
own sense of individulatily, none of them can be identified as a generic
person. Your Inn is really cool looking to, is that the on with the removable
roof? Good job!

Wonderful Job, Shiri! I really enjoy how much personality your characters
have. I like the camera angles used for the pictures of the sentry guard
chasing URU (the creature). The story was great, nice job of introducing
some of your characters, while also making a reader (viewer?) curious about
your storyline.

Hey Shiri, great job on Chapter 1!  I like the robe on Scar, it looks better
than just one on the back.  That's pretty cool that you have characters from
other people's realms integrated into your stories.  It really makes you think
more about what is around your realm when you can piece together what you know
about other people's.  But overall, great job!

<snip>

I really liked your story so far.  Great photography too.  I was a little
puzzled as to who was saying what in the following snippet:

The creature turns around to see a sentry guard.
“What is it?” it asks the guard.
“Who are you,” repeats the frantic guard.
“Yes, that’s me.”

I've worked it out...but it seemed a little awkward to me at first.  I really
look forward to the rest of the story.

Well, I already have a general idea of what will be in it. I was just planning
to start the actual write-up today...
I have no idea when it'll be finished, I hope it'll be up in less than a
month. I can promise you it'll be done before the ides of July (at which point
I'll be leaving for a month in Israel, so I have to finish it before I go!).

Looks good, you did a nice job on the scenery.

To the nation of Castle enthusiast,

We now have an opportunity to demand the resurection of the long lost
Castle ‘body armor.’

This is our chance to unite for the creation of bulk Castle accessories!!!!!!!!
I know that once this system takes effect I will be ordering bulk part of :

Body Armor (I'll take 200)
Swords (I'll take 100 or more)
and much much more...

So… what would be your castle ‘wish-list’ for LEGO Direct???

Brad Justus wrote:

Dear All:

First, I'd like to thank Suzanne and Todd for creating the new
lugnet.lego group and associated subgroups. I hope that this will make
it easier for everyone to find and read communications between The LEGO
Company and our enthusiasts -- particularly as we intend these
communications to be increasingly frequent in the months and years
ahead.

We will publish these elements at the beginning of
each month, and collect orders for them during the course of that month.
At the end of the month, we will tally the orders for each element, run
our production against demand and then ship to you. In order to
cost-justify production (changing the molds, running the machines for a
certain period of time), we will require a minimum aggregate order (i.e.
from all consumers) for each element, or we will not be able to produce
that element. The beauty of this system is that it potentially allows us
to MANUFACTURE ELEMENTS WHICH WE ARE NOT CURRENTLY PRODUCING - which
will give you the ability to commission purchase of elements long out of
production (assuming we still have the molds and that you as a group can
commit to the minimum aggregate purchase). We hope to begin this service
late this year or early in 2001.

That's the news for now - we hope it is welcome. And we look forward to
bringing you much more of it in the months and years ahead.

Play Well.

I'm maintaining a page with a list of the parts people would like to see from
Lego Direct. It's not official or anything, just a page I put up to let LD know
what we're interested in. You're welcome to send me an email with your wants
list; just see the submission guidelines at the end of the page.

Another few words.  Totally transparent knights!!  I was thinking about this,
and I thought it would be really cool in you had a fully-equipped "ghost
knight", with the visored helmet and the old style body armor, but instead of
a clear head, put in one of those UFO heads to make it look menacing.  Come to
think of it, with one of those UFO helmets (made transparent), you could make
a really cool Predator!!

Just my $0.02

Hmm, has anyone tried a light saber hilt with an trans-orange flame in it?
That would be a nice looking weapon. Another would be the light saber hilt
with a trans-orange chainsaw blade.

I'd like to see more round shields, light grey flared helmets, dark grey bullet
helmets, light grey swords and light grey castle walls.  They could churn out
tons of these for us castle folk I bet.

Another thing I'd love to see is old shields like from the first three castle
sets, early crusaders and falcons.  I wonder what the chances of those would
be?

You beat me to the punch! I tried both, but the only one that looks good is
the lightsaber and the fire. Also, green fire is cool looking but the regular
fire is my favorite.

ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE, if we only band together and rally for the pieces we
need, then our buying power will enable us to make the choices that we’ve
never had before!

Whole armies of sub-terrain Molten Men carrying lava-shields and wielding
flame swords (Round translucent Orange Shields and Chrome Red Long Swords)
will clash with the Ice Sabers (Translucent Blue Pirate Sabers and Clear oval
Shields) of the Polar Hordes. The unyielding rage of the battle will ravage
the earth and awakening the reapers of the night. These demons shall descend
upon the blood scorn warriors and cleave mortal limbs from their decapitated
bodies. (Dark red dragons with armor clad spits, Dark Purple Body Armor)

The possibilities are endless!!!

Let us creat NEW parts!

Sincerely,

Richard
