I wanted to see a contest.  It would have been better than all this nonsense.

Chris, it is rare that I see your name in this forum, so I want to aknowledge
your post.

Eric, you really should reconsider.  I think 12 inches is not a very good size -
Soren, all your stuff is on the order of twelve inches, AND you chose a design
with which you have a lot of experience building.  The design is fine, but go
bigger - how about 18 inches.  Points off for every inch taller or shorter than
that.  And no whining about not having enough parts.  This isn't an x-pod build
contest.  Spending $20-$50 on bricklink will get you plenty far.

And nine months - that's too long.  How about six months?  Something to look
forward to before all the June meetings.

If you agree to those terms, and Mark Neumann judges, I'LL take your challenge.

This is Lugnet.build.mecha, not Lugnet.talk.smack.  Let's do some building
mecha.  Anyone else feeling this contest?

Chris

Please understand, I asked Soren to challenge me, I did not say "I challenge
you." For whatever difference there is in that, there it is.

I won't enter a competition where I am going to have to use 1x1 clips as hands,
nor wait nearly a year to see the results.

I DO think that if the terms are unacceptable to both parties, perhaps the
rational thing to do is to compromise.

I offered a compromise.

Really I think we SHOULD have a Mecha Contest again.
I was really interested to see if you would enter this past one, the MPC.

Maybe we should just hold a new contest. Lift spirits.

Either way, please don't think I am backing down.
I would have tried to entertain the contest, but I tell ya, Soren's cruelty via
email caused me to throw my hands up and say forget it.

Let me state again for the record:

"...but for real, to do the Mighty Alpha justice, the scale should be
proportional to the kinds of parts required to render the design."

I say we let K decide what Mecha we should build, let him be the sole judge for
all of our entries.

If so, I'll work with Mark to set up the contest, and then step out, and begin
to build.

Soren lost his chance with me, he couldn't keep his abusive tactics out of my
inbox.

(...) snip (...) If Soren's challenge is too hard for you, just say so. There's no shame in admitting failure. a (18 years ago, 20-Dec-05, to lugnet.build.mecha, lugnet.build.contests)
