Hmm, but if you were to go on the asumption that kids these days jsut aren't
into building, and that today's industry is based on hype and advertising,
what about the fact that there are no television commercials for Lego
anymore? Surely you must remember all the "Lego Maniac" commercials from the
80s. What if they hyped System the way they're hyping Bionicle? Maybe it
would be popular among the kids, too.
Also, Lego has a distinct advantage over other toys because, even for kids
interested mostly in just playing, they can play with themes such as castle
or Pirates, and actually have damage to buildings or ships, and injuries to
minifigs, unlike with other toys. The only way to do that with other toys
would be to actually damage the toy. Not to mention all the customization
capabilities. Maybe they should hype these factors in tv commercials instead
of hyping Bionicle.
