Wow! Thank for the construction tips! I guess I may be one step ahead then. My Big Boy's tender operates on an end slider of two attached wheelsets. I have noticed a slight uplift going in and coming out of curves, but nothing major. I guess the (...) (25 years ago, 27-Mar-00, to lugnet.trains)

I'm selling my entire collection for $4,500. There are over 300 sets MISB, and over 200 sets opened but still in mint condition. Over 90% of the opened sets were put together once; and then sealed in zip-lock bags. The boxes of the MISB sets are in (...) (24 years ago, 29-Mar-01, to lugnet.trains)

  Track Question
 
When you create a siding using two switches does the track not in use become isolated ? this does not work for 12v but I think it does for 9v because the direction of the switch determines which line carries the current. (...) Let me clarify. What I meant was, I hope they do a train, and I hope that it runs on 9v track. Not that it has to have track in the set with it, etc. Not every set that Lego has produced has had power pack, etc., in it. Just that it does run (...) (...) The assembly probably is the biggest reason. The motor itelf I'm betting is the same physical motor as in the 9V train motor (every LEGO motor I have seen has actually had the same size housing, It's a very common size, I remember HO trains (...) (23 years ago, 3-Aug-01, to lugnet.trains)

(...) Actually, I would argue that the 4.5v/12v turnouts have a better geometry than the 9v. Adjacent tracks touching looks a lot better (and gets more yard into a small space) than adjacent tracks being so far apart. Of course the 4.5v/12v geometry (...)
