  Re: My first MOC locomotive

(...) If you thought you needed my approval, consider it given, but I don't think you need it. I didn't use a normal train plate. I put the 9V motor as low as I could in the design--I actually built the "fuel tanks" around it so it kept the center (...) (24 years ago, 14-Mar-01, to lugnet.trains)

Unfortunately, I had to keep the hatch small enough to pour through 9V track, and it only (...) (24 years ago, 13-Mar-01, to lugnet.trains)

Re: what is the use of a caboose?

(...) Actually, flywheel is perfectly practical. Sentinel (once again!) made a loco that was powered by, IIRC, 2 2 ton flywheels, and it was reasonably capable (but expensive). I tend to think that a flywheel drive system is more practical for bus (...) (23 years ago, 1-Aug-01, to lugnet.trains)

sorry for that attention getter, but two train sets came in the mail that I aquired via E-bay. They were the Freight Rail Runner and Metroliner. This in my first Metroliner (didn't get a chance to buy it when it came out because my family and I (...) (24 years ago, 23-Mar-01, to lugnet.trains)

I'm kinda sorta train voltage complete

Having just received my first 12v train set I'm sort of train voltage complete, well not quite, while I have about 80% of the special parts from 7710, I can't really consider myself as having a push train. I do have 95%+ complete 7722 and a formerly (...) (24 years ago, 5-Apr-01, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.loc.us.nc)

(...) It isn't that hard to run 12V stuff using a 7864 transformer. All you need (besides the 7864) is a 110V->220V stepup transformer, which would run you $20-30. The 7864 has the advantage of being able to run accessories without having everything (...) (24 years ago, 5-Apr-01, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.loc.us.nc)

  9V train motor(s????)

Hi, I bought a 9V trainmotor on ebay, but the seller now claims it is an older model and uses the 12V midrail to get its power, except it runs on 9V instead of 12V. Can this be true? Or am I fooled/tricked? Jeroen (23 years ago, 15-May-01, to lugnet.trains)

(...) If you're talking about the 9V series only, then the Metroliner set is by far the most sought after set and commands the highest price. The 4551 Crocodile engine comes as a close second. -Harvey (23 years ago, 15-Apr-01, to lugnet.trains)

In my opinion these are rare sets of each series: blue: 113, 115, 118, 119, 164, 166, 167, 183, 722 grey: 7720, 7727, 7730, 7740, (...) (23 years ago, 16-Apr-01, to lugnet.trains)
