  Train compatibility question

Will a 9v engine work on 12/4.5v track if it has a 9v battery box attached to it? -- Markham Carroll (22 years ago, 26-Aug-02, to lugnet.trains)

need - Dark Grey Train, Track 9V Switch Point Left

I am currently in need of two Dark Grey Train, Track 9V Switch Point Left for a layout expansion. Would anyone be interested in two Right point's? We could each buy one set and exchange the one's we do not need. I'd be happy to pick up postage both (...) (23 years ago, 16-Sep-01, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.market.buy-sell-trade)

(...) Well, then perhaps you're going to have to change the internals of the engine a bit to clear the "bogie plate" pin. Many 9V solid frame engines (4563 main, 4559 main) use arches to clear it.   Re: RCX and the 9v system - help needed!

(...) You can hook an RCX 1.0 brick to a 9V adapter like the one that comes with the train speed regulator. I do not know of an all LEGO way to hook up the RCX 1.5 and above or the Scout to mains power. I know people have done it by makeing false (...)   Re: Has Anyone Tried This and Will it Work?

(...) Another thing to try: Use the 9V motor to power the IR receiver, and run the PF motor from that. This would require the 9V motor to be disconnected (just use the pick-up), and you'd need to run the train controller at full speed, and make sure (...) (15 years ago, 12-Jun-09, to lugnet.trains)
