Okay, so I'm alternating between stunned and discouraged. Beautuful photos, with wonderful detail, but my poor 4x8 display looks so small now. You guys's layout really is inspiring, though. Rick- You are referring to one of Brian Williams' masterpieces: (URL) the risk of speaking for Brian, I can say simply that what he has done is wire the 9 volt motor to power the older 12 volt motor. I don't know *how* exactly, but this is what he (...) (25 years ago, 29-Jul-99, to lugnet.trains)

Rick/John, Hi... I'm just about recovered from the trip. The locomotive that Rick asked about is powered by an old 12v mechanism with siderods. It has it's bronze power pick-ups taped-back and draws power from the tender which has a standard 9v (...) (25 years ago, 31-Jul-99, to lugnet.trains)

(...) Those are 2x2 5h girders. They were available in black in 6444 Outback Airstrip, (URL) in red in 1682 Space Shuttle (URL) think 1682 has 8 of them. Conan has a shoebox sized bin about 1/2 full of the red ones. He parted out a LOT of 1682s. (25 years ago, 8-Aug-99, to lugnet.trains)

When I worked in the factory (12 years ago) we had no contact with the brick molding people. We knew where they were, and every once and a while one of them would come out with a dumpster of deformed bricks. It looks like maybe a Chistmas Eve raid (...) (25 years ago, 17-Aug-99, to lugnet.trains)
