Wow, so many posts! Thanks for the support (and concerns as well).
I won't be back on the LUGNET till Friday so here are a few thoughts:
-Someone has volunteered to co-edit the book with me.
-The idea of a committee to decide/review models is a good one. Some
thought has to go into how to do this fairly.
-This is a long term project. I don't expect a product to be available
for a long time (e.g . March)
-Regarding the DeskTop Publishing - I have a pretty goog setup for
capable of doing a book here at home. My partner, Martha (an AFOL
herself) works professionally in design and marketing and has
volunteered to help. Any additional help is welcome.
-Rendering. Outsourcing (1) may be the best bet for this. Several
people have volunteered CPU time for this. Standards have to be
developed first (and models selected)
-Website- An offical website for this is in the works.
-Bridges are welcome in the book!
-Printing costs are an issue. We're looking into that. It may require
some sort of fundraising. I'm positive we can get around that.
-rare parts? i don't know where to draw the line. I'd rather more
'recent' parts only. suggestions?
Gotta go
-chris

I decided today, that I would like to spearhead (1)the production of a (...) (23 years ago, 9-Dec-01, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.trains.org) !!
