any way I can.

Thanks

I have two early-to-mid 20th century steam engines I'd love to contribute as
well.  The BR52 has already been modelled quite closely in LDraw, and I'd love
the excuse to do the BR18:

BR18: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=8403
BR52: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=7086

Thanks!  Either one should be good for the idea book.  The BR52 might be
better since it doesn't use hard-to-find wheels.  It's a tough choice as
they are both excellent models.

Given the fact that everybody seems to love the idea, what's the next step?  I
was thinking it might be useful to throw together a no-frills webpage for each
section, and collect submissions for each.  That is, a page full of possible
entries for locomotives, freight, passenger, etc.  That would collect all of
the material together in a single area, and provide a sense of progress :)

I've thought about do this.  It's the week before finals week here and
I've got papers to grade and a take home final to complete.  I'll have
something up before Christmas.

Also, it might be useful to specify some format, or suggested elements of a
submission (not all of which may be used ...).  For example, you might suggest
that all submissions include:

(1) DAT or MPD file of model
(2) Clear high-quality photograph(s) of model
(3) Statistics, including: approximate piece count, history of model, history
of model subject, etc
(4) (optional?) photos of model in a layout, as you mentioned (great idea!)

Agree with all.  I'm not sure how to handle #3 yet though.

Or maybe that's too rigid :P  I'm just throwing out some ideas!

Anyway, let us know what we can do to help and/or contribute!

Will do!

do in 11 minutes on campus...)

I think this is a great idea, but there is a reason why there aren't a few of these out already. Here are some hard questions/comments... Costs: The printing cost for a 64 page book 11-1/2" x 11" is ~$27.00 ($0.39/page + $2.00 binding) from a copy (...) (23 years ago, 11-Dec-01, to lugnet.trains)
