For one style of frame construction, take a look at the last picture on
this page:

Of course that isn't a very complex construction, but it does the job
without using a wagon plate. My yellow and black loco uses a built up
frame in the style Larry is talking about, but I don't have details of
it. Basically, you build up 2 or 3 layers of plates, using a Technic
plate as a body bolster to attach the truck (bogie) to. Note that the
pin on the bogie plate really only works well with a single thickness
Technic plate, so you need to leave a gap above the Technic plate for
it. In my loco, I used a 2x4 Technic plate, with 1x2 plates at each end
as separators. It would be a little stronger to have worked a 2x6
Technic plate into the construction, but that's not what I did (as a
result, removing a truck usually brings the Technic plate and the 1x2s
along also).

| (...) ......... (...) ...... (...) Can you direct me to any sites that show subframes construction. These details are not easy to see in most model pictures Lester (24 years ago, 1-May-01, to lugnet.trains)
