Black is hard to work with and tiring;

Disagree :-)

White is tricky, in that it too obviously discolours with age.
But it is beautiful in pristine condition and works well with anything else.

Not had that problem yet and yes.

I really like the "black/gray with yellow trim" color scheme used on numerous Technic sets (8082, 8425, 8485, 8838, 8868, 8880, etc.), so my favorite beams are probably the black and gray ones. I have a lot of yellow and red beams (as they are (...) (23 years ago, 3-Oct-01, to lugnet.technic)

Perhaps my order might be : Blue, White, Green, Grey, Red, Black, Yellow, Others. (Availability and set frequency probably influences this!) Interesting are the combinations used. The almost edible red/yellow in 8872, the cool blue/white in 8042 (...) (23 years ago, 2-Oct-01, to lugnet.technic)
