Hey guys-

I was just browsing Brickshelf
(http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=1062483) when I noticed how
they set up the crane.

1) Yes it has steering (though which knob you turn i DON'T KNOW)

Me either but my guess is there's a knob on the back.

2) The extending mechanism for the boom, it's done by a chain (I didn't know
this. My idea for a three section boom would be along the lines of what Jennifer
Clark did)

Well it appears the chain is only to extend the innermost section, from other
pics I think the first section is extended using gear & racks like 8460.

3) The two pneumatics ARE the new type, but are joined together by a special
covering (view the pic)

Yeah, interesting the pieces are in white not yellow. But maybe that's just for
the photo. And yes I like the bike and the forklift too - that's an interesting
rear shock on the bike. I wonder if I could fit a 2-speed gearbox in there...

And the forklist looks like a 3 section lifter too, sweet!

The fact that it has a 3-section boom is making my mouth water! I must get this set (maybe two!)! The tires and wheels I can use in future creations (maybe a grove gmk 7550 perhaps?I really need to finish my crane CAD rendering!)! (19 years ago, 15-Jan-05, to lugnet.technic)

Could you explain to me how the chain would be used in extending the boom sections? I am very curious (if possible, could you post a few drawings or sketches?). Thanks. (19 years ago, 15-Jan-05, to lugnet.technic)
