I'm with you there! The color sucks and yes, going to BrickLink to get those
pannels in another color as Orion mentioned is a good idea.
One thing that has certainly got to get some coverage but would go into more
is the styling of the body- not just its color or the functionality of the
model.
When I'm reading mags like Road & Track, Automobile, etc. and see the SUV's
being put out by manufactures like Porsche and BMW (just to name a few) why
wasn't such styling used. To me, the 8466 looks like a warped AMC Gremlin
that's been lifted! (Didn't AMC use that puke green too?)
I bought the 8466 primarily for its functions- body styling was second.
LEGO got the body styling right in both the 8880 and 8448 but I think they
screwed up when they made the 8466.
