I've just had another idea

I think people would much sooner have the 8880 which had a much superior 4x4
mechanism and could be re-released as a classic, but you'd need a poll on
the official Lego site to confirm this.

The next time their is a poll to choose which set should be re-released why
not have an advocate for each potential set. Each advocate could be drawn
from the Afol community and state their case for why their chosen set should
be re-released. This would give the voters who probabaly haven't come in
contact with some or any or the shortlisted sets the benefit of the
advocates knowledge of the product, thereby highlighting both it's strenghts
and weakness's.

This system was recently used in a competition to find the 'Greatest Briton
of all time'.
