Re: looking for inventories of 8064 & 9v power pack

(...) Take a look at Brickshelf. The instructions are there, so you can see what parts go into it. (...) Take a look at (URL) can clearly see what parts come with the 9V power pack in this picture. Fredrik (26 years ago, 11-Apr-01, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.db.inv)

Re: The bodge and it's use in Technic Construction

(...) Why? If it were spelt 'kluge', as in 'luge', I would agreed, but as it is spelt 'kludge', I think that it should be pronounced as per 'fudge', 'sludge' etc. Martin (26 years ago, 11-Apr-01, to lugnet.technic)

Re: The bodge and it's use in Technic Construction

(...) That depends on whether you're the hacker implementing the kludge or the manager tolerating it. Actually, "hack" might be closer (at least within certain circles) in meaning than "kludge". --Bill. (26 years ago, 11-Apr-01, to lugnet.technic)

Re: Pneumatic Pump Testing Goes Hi Tech

TRU-FLATE tire pressure guages are made by Stant. If you search the Web for "Tru-Flate" you will find several stores that sell them. I have been using a digital tire guage (like the one originally suggested on Soh Chio's site) up until now to (...)   Re: The bodge and it's use in Technic Construction

(...) The preferred pronunciation of "kludge" is "klooj", actually. (26 years ago, 11-Apr-01, to lugnet.technic)

Re: Pneumatic Pump Testing Goes Hi Tech

(...) Well, the markings say "TIRE PRESSURE GAUGE" at the top and "TRU-FLATE" at the bottom. It reads to 60 psi. No other markings to indicate its manufacture. It came courtesy of John Barnes together with the pressure sensor. The inlet has been (...) (26 years ago, 11-Apr-01, to lugnet.robotics, lugnet.technic, lugnet.build, lugnet.dacta)

Re: Pneumatic Pump Testing Goes Hi Tech

(...) Those pressure switches look quite neat! It's one step closer to the establishment of a link between the pneumatic system and the RCX... BTW I was just browsing your website (really great site BTW) and had a question...do you know what type of (...)   Re: 8857 Street Chopper question

(...) Thanks for the replies. Yeah, 8865 has a very fast engine which looks even faster since the pistons are the old large ones, although I think 8868 is slightly faster (gear ratios are the same, wheels are smaller). In contrast some sets like (...) (26 years ago, 11-Apr-01, to lugnet.technic)

Re: looking for inventories of 8064 & 9v power pack

(...) I think these are the sets that include this motor: 8064 (1) 8094 (2) 8480 (1) 8485 (3) 8720 (1) 8868 (1) 8720 basically includes the motor parts, two electric plates, a bunch of gears, rubber belts and axles, along with a few short gray (...)   Re: Pneumatic Pump Testing Goes Hi Tech

(...) Thanks, Jen. I'll have a go at it. (...) Well, I was just thinking to what extent you could take the pressure sensor device. Actually, most of my own creations don't use the RCX. And they're mostly powered by the manually operated hand pump. (26 years ago, 10-Apr-01, to lugnet.robotics, lugnet.technic, lugnet.build, lugnet.dacta)

A funny thing happened on the way to Ta-Koro

Hello all, Today in Matanui I've managed to make the brige operating machine of Ta-Koro invisable. After I've asked all four questions to Jala, I wend on to the engine room, clicked on the machine and woosh, gone it was. Still huffing and puffing (...)   Re: Yet another use for 7106

(...) Among my myriad talents I'm also an occasional scratch builder. I've recently made a circular housing by wrapping a flexible strip of plasticard around a circular former secured by an elastic band and then throwing it into a sink full of (...) (26 years ago, 10-Apr-01, to lugnet.technic)

Re: Pneumatic Pump Testing Goes Hi Tech

With all this talk of pneumatics going on, I feel I must inform you that all my current and pending creations hardly use pneumatics at all, I've binned them in favour of something more suited to my needs. I'd love to tell you but you'll have to wait (...) (26 years ago, 10-Apr-01, to lugnet.robotics, lugnet.technic, lugnet.build, lugnet.dacta)

Re: Pneumatic Pump Testing Goes Hi Tech

(...) Sure - I made a rather ugly version of it including limit switch for my skid steer loader model. There is a picture here; I don't actually think many modifications other than replacing the small and large pully with 8 and 40 tooth gears were (...)   Re: The bodge and it's use in Technic Construction

(...) When I actually got round to implement my 'bodge' I managed to do it so well it doesn't qualify as a bodge at all! It's now a 'clever implementation of standard parts to overcome a design limitation' :-) Steve (26 years ago, 10-Apr-01, to lugnet.technic)

looking for inventories of 8064 & 9v power pack

I am looking for an inventory of the 8064 electric universal set and also the 9v power pack (87xx I think) that has the old non geared motor. Basicly I am looking for sets that use this motor that I have all (mabie in different colors...) of the (...) (26 years ago, 10-Apr-01, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.db.inv)

Re: Pneumatic Pump Testing Goes Hi Tech

(...) I don't know how or why but I don't seem to have come across it. I guess I could try to build one but it'll help if you could give me a link or reference to it. (...) Well, I can have a go at it. But really, with this pressure sensor thing, (...) (26 years ago, 10-Apr-01, to lugnet.robotics, lugnet.technic, lugnet.build, lugnet.dacta)

Re: Pneumatic Pump Testing Goes Hi Tech

(...) Nice work as ever! One type of pump I've not seen you test yet is a varation of Michael Powell's using an 8 tooth gear onto 40 tooth gear reduction rather than the belt drive, as this seems to improve performance significantly. How about a (...) (26 years ago, 10-Apr-01, to lugnet.robotics, lugnet.technic, lugnet.build, lugnet.dacta)

Re: The bodge and it's use in Technic Construction

(...) More or less, but I think "kludge" carries more negative connotations than "bodge"; a bodge is generally thought of as a clever workaround (although still a workaround), whereas "kludge" seems to imply an ugly or inelegant solution that will (...)   Re: Yet another use for 7106

(...) How about a homebrew one? I believe it is possible to get fairly thick "plastic card" which can be heated in the oven and moulded - I think this is a technique used by those who scratch build scale models of various types. It won't be pure but (...) (26 years ago, 10-Apr-01, to lugnet.technic)
