  Re: 8862 Backhoe Grader question

(...) I think most Americans would immediately think of Caterpillar Inc. (better known as "Cat") which is by far the best known manufacturer of construction equipment in the US. personally, I think 8862 looks exactly like the Caterpillar Backhoe (...) (24 years ago, 19-Feb-01, to lugnet.technic)

(...) Which is why I wrote 'almost'. Still compare with Silver Champion it should be a big step up in functions and cool parts. (24 years ago, 19-Feb-01, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.year.2001)

  Worm Gear Set 5288

I wanted to get the worm gear set 5288 from my local toy shop, but they can't get it anymore. They had it until end of 2000. I had a look at the LEGO online shop, but it is not available. How can I get two of this sets? Where can I buy it? It would (...) (24 years ago, 19-Feb-01, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: 8862 Backhoe Grader question

(...) I wonder if it is anything to do with the popularity of backhoe loaders in the UK, where they are ubiquitous and known as JCBs? *Everyone* here will recognise that model as a JCB immediately, whereas I've been told that JCB is not such a well (...)   Re: super cars

(...) The 8880 Super Car always reminded me of the Mitsubishi Eclipse from the mid '90s. The debut of the Super Car almost seemed to coincide with the new body style of the Eclipse. (24 years ago, 18-Feb-01, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: 8082 Universal set

(...) Actually the funny thing is that the "8082" link only has the first 20 or so pages but the "8082/under-repair" link has the entire manual. If anyone would like for me to scan the pages anyway, let me know (my scanner isn't very good though). (24 years ago, 18-Feb-01, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: 8880 Pleasure.....

(...) Personally, I think the 8880 and the Technic Space Shuttle are the best two LEGO sets of all time. I built my 8880 over 3 years ago - it's on display in the house to educate all non-Lego visitors and I still can't bear to break it up. Onto the (...)   Technic logo/box color scheme

I just wanted some opinion on this; do you all like the old Technic logo/box color scheme or the new one better. I personally prefer the old one; I like darker colors and the old logo somehow seems to look more original and inspired (sorry if I'm (...) (24 years ago, 17-Feb-01, to lugnet.technic)

Re: Official pictures of new 2001 Legos

(...) Wow...that model looks quite impressive; I think I see a transmission switch between the two seats and those tires look like the huge 8457 Power Puller rear ones.   Re: 8082 Universal set

Thanks for the replies. I built the forklift model and apart from a few design glitches (which can be corrected easily), the function switch system has to be one of the most innovative ones I've seen! There is essentially a platform on which the (...) (24 years ago, 17-Feb-01, to lugnet.technic)

Re: Looking for set for parts

(...) Yeah, some of the older sets (8460, 8480, 8862, 8868, 8880, etc) are very nice in terms of functionality IMHO. It seems that today's models are actually less functionally advanced than some older ones (at least from 1989-1998), which would (...) (24 years ago, 17-Feb-01, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: 8862 Backhoe Grader question

  Re: 8862 Backhoe Grader question

(...) No, the 8862 was available in the US as a S@H item, I dont beleive it was available as a retail item.
