Sir Steve interviews someone from Lego

I happened upon an interesting interview between Sir Steve and a rep from Lego. The rep was pretty vague but he does alude to some interesting things for 2001 (including the possibility of stormtroopers). Check it out at: (URL) (24 years ago, 24-Feb-00, to lugnet.starwars)

Re: Sir Steve interviews someone from Lego

(...) actually making money last year (I think... almost played out like it was just a commercial) on CNN Headline. Anyway, some takes on the Q&A: "SSG: The fans have been asking about figures-only sets, like the Ninja and Rock Raiders series. Will (...) (24 years ago, 24-Feb-00, to lugnet.starwars)

Re: Sir Steve interviews someone from Lego

(...) Scott mentions the possiblity of 6 dollar figure sets. How about a battle figure set that would come with the basic combat troops. Like the Gungan Warriors from 7115 and some of the battle droids? Rob (The Newbie) (24 years ago, 24-Feb-00, to lugnet.starwars)

Re: Sir Steve interviews someone from Lego

(...) I think that Target cleared out some of them, but apparently Target often clears out a lot of large LEGO sets post-Xmas, whether they're going out of production or not. J (24 years ago, 24-Feb-00, to lugnet.starwars)

Re: Sir Steve interviews someone from Lego

(...) First, the item that illicited a vocal responce from me... SSG: Will Lego be doing any non-Star Wars lines that are in the space/sci-fi genre in the future? LEGO: There was already a space line, it was DISCONTINUED and we are expanding the SW (...) (24 years ago, 24-Feb-00, to lugnet.starwars)

Re: Sir Steve interviews someone from Lego

(...) Shuttle "Tyderium". Tyderium should actually be italicized, it was the name of the shuttle. The name of the type of ship is Lambda-class shuttle. Hope knowing these fact enriches your life as much as it enriches mine. ;D eric, who wishes some (...) (24 years ago, 24-Feb-00, to lugnet.starwars)

Re: Sir Steve interviews someone from Lego

(...) of (...) come on eric you know that isn't true, about wanted to give up some Star Wars brain space. :) Travis, the so called Star Wars and Lego freak according to his fiancee. (24 years ago, 24-Feb-00, to lugnet.starwars)

Re: Sir Steve interviews someone from Lego

(...) Yeah, you don't need to clear out some space! That's like getting rid of your bricks because your apartment is too small! You just need a bigger brain! J ...build one out of LEGO...? (24 years ago, 24-Feb-00, to lugnet.starwars)

Re: Sir Steve interviews someone from Lego

So what do we learn from this interview: (...) Approximately nothing. "At this time," "possible..." (...) Ooh! a hard answer! (...) "At this time," "possible..." Why do executives waste their time and the interviewer's time granting an interview if (...) (24 years ago, 24-Feb-00, to lugnet.starwars)

Re: Sir Steve interviews someone from Lego

(...) Let's try this one more time... ;^) "Tydirium" is the correct spelling. ~Mark (24 years ago, 24-Feb-00, to lugnet.starwars)

Imperial Guards (was: Re: Sir Steve interviews someone from Lego)

(...) Noooooo! An Emperor's Shuttle. comes with 1 Emperor, 2 Imperial pilots, and 6 Royal Gaurds. Trans-red head with a red helmet. The helmet would have eye cut-out like the scout troopers but shaped correctly. Price point $99-$150. Put rebels in (...) (24 years ago, 24-Feb-00, to lugnet.starwars)

Re: Sir Steve interviews someone from Lego

(...) To be fair, the LEGO guy said right in his first answer: "Because future launches are confidential, I can't say what will and won't be available in 2001 (yet)." It's not *his* fault that the interviewer then went on to only ask questions about (...) (24 years ago, 24-Feb-00, to lugnet.starwars)

Re: Sir Steve interviews someone from Lego

(...) Well we know they have manufactured some - they were shown at that Japanese Toy Fair - I was impressed by the likeness. Carbon 60 (24 years ago, 24-Feb-00, to lugnet.starwars)

Re: Sir Steve interviews someone from Lego

(...) They may not have been manufactured- they may have been hand-created by TLG's Japanese Master Builder. See the posts by the website's author for more details. One thing is definite- they are on Scout Trooer torsos. I would think if they had (...) (24 years ago, 24-Feb-00, to lugnet.starwars)

Re: Imperial Guards (was: Re: Sir Steve interviews someone from Lego)

(...) I don't care what they call it, I just want that ship. ^_^ It's one of my two favourite Star Wars vehicles (the other being the AT-AT). (24 years ago, 25-Feb-00, to lugnet.starwars)

Re: Sir Steve interviews someone from Lego

(...) I read this as the tride-and-true mislabeling of the SpacePort series as being "space-themed." Space Port was the line that was recently discontinued, unless he's referring to the Insectoids. At any rate, none of this is really news. Why the (...) (24 years ago, 25-Feb-00, to lugnet.starwars)

Re: Imperial Guards (was: Re: Sir Steve interviews someone from Lego)

(...) know (...) No no you missed my point. A lambda-class shuttle would be the only set (under TLG/C's idiotic idea of only making SW vehicles,) that could give us an Emperor and Royal gaurd(x6) figs. I hope they don't instead put some rebel scum (...) (24 years ago, 25-Feb-00, to lugnet.starwars)

Re: Sir Steve interviews someone from Lego

(...) No kidding, his interview wasn't particularly informative. I know as a huge space fan *I* would of asked that question. Oh well. (24 years ago, 25-Feb-00, to lugnet.starwars)

Re: Imperial Guards (was: Re: Sir Steve interviews someone from Lego)

(...) Aaaah, that would be very cool (the Emperor/Royal Guards). Lets hope that they don't do the Han/Chewie/Leia/Luke/3p0 crew. (24 years ago, 25-Feb-00, to lugnet.starwars)

Vehicle year/building year? (Was: Imperial Guards (was: Re: Sir Steve interviews someone from Lego)

In lugnet.starwars, Mike Petrucelli writes: [snip] (...) [snip] Is this an observation or a quote? It's true enough as an observation, since the static architecture (buildings and the like) has been very minimal in the Star Wars sets to date. I (...) (24 years ago, 25-Feb-00, to lugnet.starwars)

Re: Vehicle year/building year? (Was: Imperial Guards (was: Re: Sir Steve interviews someone from Lego)

(...) There would probobly be a set at a price point between $29.99 and $99.99, perhaps a $64.99 set. Also there will probobly be more UCS stuff, perhaps some ep1 stuff? UCS naboo fighter and sith infiltrator? -- Jonathan Wilson wilsonj@xoommail.com (...) (24 years ago, 25-Feb-00, to lugnet.starwars)

Re: Vehicle year/building year? (Was: Imperial Guards (was: Re: Sir Steve interviews someone from Lego)

(...) Merely an observation (...) to (...) When I was younger I always thought the 'Greet the Emporer' scene with the 6 guards was coolest scene in the movies which at that point only consisted of the latter 2. I never saw the first movie till I was (...) (24 years ago, 25-Feb-00, to lugnet.starwars)

Re: Vehicle year/building year? (Was: Imperial Guards (was: Re: Sir Steve interviews someone from Lego)

(...) Exactly. It's that, and one other thing: How many movies do you see the Millenium Falcon in? X-Wing fighters? TIE fighters? How many movies do you see the base at Yavin 4 in? And at that, how many scenes bother to show it? The action was on (...) (24 years ago, 28-Feb-00, to lugnet.starwars)

Re: Vehicle year/building year? (Was: Imperial Guards (was: Re: Sir Steve interviews someone from Lego)

(...) Excellent points...especially about Jabba's palace. I for one don't want Lego to produce anything that relies on juniorized pieces. I'd rather not have (see) any set that will leave me sour over its poor construction, design, parts selection, (...) (24 years ago, 29-Feb-00, to lugnet.starwars)

Re: Sir Steve interviews someone from Lego

(...) According to Mr. Kristiansen: "I think that we can benefit from Star Wars, which is a long-term proposition. We have it for six to seven years.... We do not foresee that we will have to go into a lot of other different licensing arrangements." (...) (24 years ago, 1-Mar-00, to lugnet.starwars)
